National Security

Powell-anthrax-vial (1)

In 2001, the president, military and intelligence community were convinced that Saddam’s imaginary WMD’s were a threat to national security.

In 2015, the president, military and intelligence community are convinced that an essential trace gas spewing from this power plant, and feeding this organic farm, is a threat to national security.

In both cases, the president and 97% of experts were completely full of crap.

Unlike Obama, Bush never tried to criminalize dissent.

    It’s all ridiculous…
If the past 200 years had been 20 degrees cooler, and we were adjusted to it…they would be claiming that was the perfect temperature
If the past 200 years had been 20 degrees warmer, and we were adjusted to it…they would be claiming that was the perfect temperature

Who was stupid enough to fall for this crap in the first place?…and let them decide where to put that little “normal” line

    • rah says:

There is no “normal line”. There never was. But if there was one you couldn’t find it because they keep moving it.

  2. kuhnkat says:

So the mothballed nuclear research station with about 15 tons of low level enriched uranium and over 150 tons of yellowcake tells you that Sodam was shutting down all his research??? Notice I said mothballed, as in carefull stored to be ready to reopen at the first chance.

Oh yeah, I also loved when the regime set up the crowdsourcing servers to serve Iraqi documents for translation. Strangely, it was immediately shut down when someone downloaded, translated, and reuploaded plans for a nuke.

Yeah, everyone was just delusional about all the secret programs that Sodam had running concurrently including laser and magnetic enrichment, and dual use plants easily converted to chemical and bio factories. But hey, don’t let go of your delusions. They may be all that is keeping you going….

I would point out that in both cases, no WMD and CO2 is gonna getcha, the leftards pushed the lie the hardest. Right up there with Bush blew up the Towers. Seriously, how short of an attention span and memory do most people have to completely forget that it was the Dhimmicraps who hounded his dad for not taking our Sodam and continually ranting about how dangerous Sodam was so they allowed Clintoon to shoot off most of our stockpile of cruise missiles and huge amounts of more conventional ordinance with no intention of declaring war or going in to finish the job. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget the other big lie about bombing the civilian infrastructure of Yugoslavia to stop a genocide in Kosovo that wasn’t happening.

    • gnome says:

So they invaded Iraq. That went well didn’t it.

      • David A says:

In fact, for a time (shortly after first being in office) Obama bragged about how well things were going in Iraq, then he threw out all the recommendations of the military leaders, made his own policy, and we see the results.

Also your comment does not admit that the infrastructure for WMD were well built in Iraq, or the common sense notion that given over 6 months warning about the invasion, it is likely much of WMDs were moved.

        • rah says:

Exactly David. Despite ridiculous ROE (Rules of Engagement) the warriors just about had that war won and the the country was on the right track. Then Obama snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. But what does one expect from a Commander & Chief who would never define what the objectives were and never defined what victory was beyond “get us out”?

      • gator69 says:

Amnazing how much people have forgotten, or never knew about our war with Iraq.

For starters, the ‘First Gulf War’ never ended. We did not sign a peace treaty with Iraq, in fact we signed a “conditional cease fire”, a conditional cease fire that was broken by Iraq at least 18 times over 12 years. As a result, we had an obligation to go back and fix the problem, or appear weak and uncommitted to peace.

The next point has been covered, that Sadam did have WMD, and most was reportedly moved to Syria. Just yesterday Bob Woodward reported that Bush told CIA Director George Tenet, “Don’t let anyone stretch the case on WMD”.

Hindsight is always 20/20, and every war plan has a counter plan, and no plan goes according to plan. Turkey had given us assurance of support and cooperation that never happened, but we did not find this out until it was too late…

The informal deal had three major points: First, the United States could base up to 62,000 troops in Turkey temporarily on their way into northern Iraq. Second, the United States could use Turkish airbases and Turkish airspace. Third, the Turks would receive $6 billion in direct aid, which could be leveraged into sizable loans to defend the faltering Turkish currency.

In addition, the agreement would have allowed Turkey to send 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers into an area in Iraq not more than 18 kilometers from the Turkish border to set up camps to handle displaced persons, according to Morton Abramowitz, a former U.S. ambassador to Turkey.

        http://www.cfr.org/iraq/iraq-us-turkey-relations/p7795#p2

Instead of US forces entering from the North and South using a classic pincer maneuver, we were hung out to dry by our “ally” Turkey, and had to fight with one hand behind our back.

        Revisionist history is criminal.

        • rah says:

The US ended up doing a lot of work up there working out of Turkey. Fact is that though 5th SFG was responsible for the middle and southern part of the country, 10th SFG (my old unit) handled the Kurdish areas in the north. 10th Group had a presence in Turkey long before even the first Gulf war. Two major operations to help the displaced persons ie: Kurds were carried out up there working out of Turkey. They are little known operations but were quite significant. They were Operations Provide Comfort and Provide Comfort II.

      • kuhnkat says:

Actually it went very well for Progressives running it. As with Vietnam, it didn’t fall apart until the Commie Democrats took over and started empowering our enemies.

    • SMS says:

Chemical weapons were also found in great quantities in Iraq. These were determined by the Democrats and the media to be insignificant in effect because they were “old”.

Today Assad of Syria is murdering his people using “old” chemical weapons. Someone should be telling them they have no reason to fear these chemical weapons. They are “old”.

      • rah says:

1987 when I was in Arlon, Belgium two workmen were killed by a WW I mustard gas shell on the Fields of Flanders.

  3. Pathway says:

And President Clinton signed an executive order calling for regime change in Iraq. And Saddam gassed the Iranians and his own people and invaded Kuwait where his troops tortured and raped innocent civilians.

  4. Pathway says:

And our troops found artillery shells filled with chemical weapons and some Iraqi generals claimed that chemical weapons were shipped to Syria. And that later Syria used chemical weapons on ISIS.

  5. Steve Case says:

I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic and we can stand up and say, “We are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.” Hillary Rodham Clinton

Damn good quote, I’ve got it bookmarked for future use as appropriate.

We live under the government George Orwell described in a book he started to write in 1946:

    Nineteen Eighty-Four http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984/

There is, in fact, no personal or national security living in Nineteen Eighty-Four AGW is the fourth (4th) in a series of MAJOR LIES invented after nations (UN) and national academies of science (NAS) were united on 24 Oct 1945 into an Orwellian Ministry of Consensus Science Truths to forbid public knowledge of Neutron Repulsion – the major source of energy in cores of heavy atom, some planets, ordinary stars, galaxies and the universe:

    1. SSM- standard solar model
    2. SNM- standard nuclear model
    3. BBC- Big Bang cosmology model
    4. AGW- anthropologic global warming

This secret, 70-year experiment in worldwide, social geo-engineering also:

_ a.) Created the false belief that the physical sciences conflict with spirituality
_ b.) Obscured the Sun’s control of atoms, lives and worlds in the Solar System
_ c.) Destroyed the integrity of science and constitutional limits of government
_ d.) Left mankind unprepared to survive one AU from the pulsar-centered Sun

One suggestion for society’s escape from this Seventy-year Old Matrix of Deceit is a series of short papers for the teachers of future generations:

Exactly. It is one big theater. We The People have no role in this play. It doesn’t matter who you vote for it won’t change the performance only the actors.

  7. I. Lou Minotti says:

Goddamnit, ANTONIA! Whose side are you on, anyway? Those chemical weapons were spirited out of Iraq to Syria months before we invaded, and have since been used on innocents.
Why not just stick with the weather and weather history–something you’re more than excellent at. For Christ’s sake, go ride your freaking bike, or something! But get your head out of your goddamn ass on this one.

    • I. Lou Minotti says:

I ask your forgiveness for my previous post. I need to learn how to understand the sarcasm of someone far more intelligent than me. My bad.

      • omanuel says:

Thanks, ILM, for the post. Are you actually from the home town of Senator Obama?

        • I. Lou Minotti says:

Of course not. But Gloucester County, NJ is running a close second. I’m a biblical conservative (the best kind) from Southern New Jersey, replete with liberal (sorry, Gator69) progressive idiots and fighting for truth with a short stick (even in the “churches!”). Here’s all the climate science I need to know, which explains what all the “scientists” need to know before they explain to us uneducated idiots the “science” they think we need to know: “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease” (Gen. 8:22). Pretty much says it all, and nothing much has changed since those words were written by Moses.

As far as I can tell, they’re all twisting themselves into philosophical mental pretzels trying to understand what God told the “basest of peoples” of unlearned understanding about 10,000 years ago after He created the heavens and the earth. Nothing worth front-page climatic news headlines in the Gray Lady or any science blog has changed since then, except that the earth has frozen and thawed ad nauseum for the past 10,000 years, as duly noted in all aforementioned publications.

How did our progenitors ever make it through life without “climate science” and all of the “climate scientists” telling us what to fear next?

But go figure, that’s what they’re supposed to do, and paid by the UN and our national government to do. I’m just an unlearned idiot trying to save myself and all I’ve worked for from educated and politicized idiots. I’m not all that worried about the climate, or tomorrow’s weather.

P.S. Why would you ever ask if I was from a Hellhole like Chicago? The only good thing from that town was the brass band that bears its name and the jazz music. Not much else, including O’Bama’s Anglo Sox. And even the band called Chicago sang about “Living in the Country” years ago. Wonder what they knew in 1970?

    • Do you think Saddam was going to invade the US?

  8. Robertv says:

Whoever did the 9/11 attack doesn’t matter, what matters is that it were the people’s representatives who voted the Patriot Act into existence and took your freedom away.

Does it matter who slaps you in the face ?

    • I. Lou Minotti says:

It does matter. You need to know who slapped your face in order to kick their ass.

    • Did it matter who did it when the faces of these people were “slapped” by the pavement, Robert?

Take your time. Do not respond until you watch the whole thing:

      • Robertv says:

        https://youtu.be/-PKRHgmHzK0

To solve that problem your representatives took your freedom away and created a police state. That’s what matters.

        • I don’t know if your response means you continue saying it doesn’t matter who did it or if it’s a simple evasion.

You may want to clarify it.

          ———-
To prevent any sidetrack: My question has zero to do with the merits and justification of any legislation, our the response and methods of the U.S. government.

        • @ Colorada . . . :

Those people were thrown from the buildings (as if in assassinations). They did not “jump” from them.

What matters is that if we fail to identify the perpetrators who continue to perpetrate, and even fail to stop them, – then WHAT have we wasted all this time and effort for??? It’s pretty hard to solve a crime, without knowing WHO is responsible for it!

  9. Eliza says:

Re rain TexasEct… probably due to COOLER from north air meeting just NORMAL Carribean (warm air)from south… greater gradient.. My contention is that the cooling earth is the one that will increase rainfall ect.

  10. Eliza says:

BTW not my contention.. its an established fact

    • The more water that ends up trapped in the ever-increasing ice masses at the poles, the LESS water available for rain. So there goes the supposed “theory” of warming = desertification and the supposed rising of the sea levels!

      There again,

You could not get these clima-tards to ever think that the Sun is the greatest single influence on the Earth’s climate and weather patterns.

Thanks, Friend Oliver. Sitting reading the posts, I had forgotten to put my flag up. I do appreciate and learn so much from the genuinely “Real Science” here and the intelligent commenters. It’s still fairly early out here in the Southwest.

  13. Actually,

George Walker Bush is the most recent starting of the “Free-Speech Zones”. So therefore, you could say that was, in effect, criminalizing free-speech (if not altogether marginalizing it).
