Meanwhile in Fort Simpson the temperature is rising. The average high there is 17.6°C on May 24th. The record high is 28.0°C in 1994 and the forecast for later today is 30°C:

Not to worry, the record high in all of the NWT was recorded in Fort Smith at 39.4 degrees C way back in 1941. But as the data in the link you provided for Fort Simpson only goes back to 1964, who knows?
Regardless, try to stay calm, the Coast Guard is focused like a laser on this threat.
