Fond Memories Of Climate Stupid

In 2008, Lewis Pugh tried to kayak to the North Pole from Spitzbergen. He made it about two miles before giving up, after he discovered that the ice-free North Pole was just NSIDC propaganda.

North Pole could be ice-free this summer, scientists say – CNN.com

The moral of the story is, if you believe government climate fraudsters – you get in trouble.

Heads up, Steven: WUWT has a HUGE article…about how NOAA and NASA are both tampering the statistics to make the past colder and the present hotter! HAHAHA.

NO apologies to you, of course, and yes, they are pretending they discovered this information themselves by being ‘diligent’. Too funny.

The reason he couldnt do the swim and kayak was BECAUSE of Global Warming……From Wiki

In September 2008, Pugh, accompanied by a team aboard a ship where he slept, attempted to kayak the 1,200 km from Svalbard, across the Arctic Ocean, to the North Pole, but the team abandoned the effort 135 km from the start.[20] The aim was to further highlight the melting sea ice. The expedition coincided with some scientists predicting that the North Pole could be free of sea-ice in the summer of 2008, for the first time in thousands of years.[21] Pugh stated that despite several attempts, they were unable to find a gap in the ice. In his autobiography Pugh wrote:

“Ironically, global warming played no small part in undermining the entire expedition. We believed that the greater melting of summer ice would open up large areas of sea and allow us to paddle north at good speed. What we did not fully appreciate was that to the north of us there was a widespread melting of sea ice off the coast of Alaska and the New Siberian Islands and the ice was being pushed south towards us … The evidence of climate change was stark. Fourteen months before I’d sailed north and I’d seen a preponderance of multi-year ice about three metres thick north of Spitsbergen, but this time most of the ice was just a metre thick.”[22]

Nice attempt at spin. The fact is his route was blocked by ice, and he was an idiot for even thinking he could pull off his silly stunt. Eight years later, and still no melted Arctic. More proof of something, just fill in the blank and bury your head in the ice.

      • Gator you should know better
You’re dealing with a religious belief
And if you argue the facts
        You’ll just come to grief!

I find it hilarious that his clown is so full of himself. He writes an autobiography, like anyone gives a hoot who he is or what he thinks. And then, to show the inflated opinion he has of himself, he compares himself to Roger Federer to Tiger Woods, as if he is also some kind of super athlete. Yeah, all that ice preventing me from showing how there is no ice, is do to global warming. Precious.

Wish we had an edit function to fix typos we miss before we hit “post.” This clown (not his clown) and due to global warming, (not do to). Sorry.

Funny how Mark Serreze was jovial in his explanation of the NSIDC “betting pool” and how they were predicting a 50/50 chance of the arctic “melting out”. It never ever came near that. And I don’t believe there was any mea culpa on the part of Serreze in November 2008…

By the way, if you click on the CNN link, the story is currently blank.

    • Frank K. says:

OK…the CNN link seems to work for me now. Read the article – Serreze talks about how they “understand the physics pretty well”. Heh!

      • I doubt that.

Physics is a lot more than just putting together a string of questionable numbers, and then running them through a questionable algorithm. These twits have totally lost the whole concept of what constitutes the “Scientific Process”, and WHY IT WORKS!

        Unfortunately,

        Political propaganda pays much better!

If I remember right he froze his butt off! If your gonna go play with the big snow and ice dog you better know WTF your doing or it will take body parts if it doesn’t down right kill you. If he had been hard headed and let his pride override his common sense he would have come out worse that having a frozen rear end and being embarrassed. Of course if he really had a lot of sense he wouldn’t have gone in the first place.

    • Yet here, at 2015,

Still, the warming embrace of a lie, says they. No appologies, no retractions, not even a reconsideration of their position on climate.

      Gee! Go figure.

    • Scott M says:

Except if he didnt go, fully funded Im sure, he wouldnt have been able to sell any books. Staying at home and swimming in the Y’s lap pool isnt very exciting. Now he has fame and fortune for saying he would do the unthinkable….

“Roger Federer to Tiger Woods overnight”

And why exactly would this be a goal? How ironic! Climate science has moved decisively from Roger to tiger.
