   On top of the growth of Greenland snow and glaciers, Cold kills 20 cattle in Matopo (Zimbabwe) that is at 20° 4′ South. Elevation: 1350 m | 4429 ft. (No numbers for temperature)

   However Brahmin cattle do not do well in cold. They are bred for the heat. This underlines the danger of farmers believing the CAGW hype and preparing for heat and getting cold instead.

   World Glacier Inventory lists some 130000 glaciers the vast majority of which are retreating…are you trying to make a record in cherrypicking? LOL

       Great reference that satellite image atlas of Greenland! Take a look at the Shuttle photo of Southern Greenland which follows the index. The photo was taken on 29 Mar 1992. Take a look at this satellite image taken on the same date this year:

       There is more or less the same amount of ice down the east coast of Greenland but 2015 has way more ice in Davis Strait than 1992. (the 9 April image shows the full extent of it)

     Talking about Greenland not the whole world. You know it’s that place up there bordering the Arctic Ocean where your constantly harping about ice melting but gained several gt of ice this year! That place where the Norsemen once grew grain but this year the sheep herds on the southern coast had to import virtually all their fodder because the melt came later than usual and ended earlier than usual.

         It’s called an El Nino! Nothing “weird” about that. I happen to think that this denuded solar cycle, the weakest since 1906 has something to do with it also and if the forecasts are correct the next one will be a very low on also if not so weak that it matches 1805.

         The Jet Stream has switch to the meridional aka the COOLING mode. The mode that brings moist air from the equator up to mix with the cold air of the Arctic/Antarctic and dumps record breaking amounts of snow in the Northern Hemisphere. Glaciation starts with major snow events not record breaking cold. Because cold are is dry you need warm moist air sucked up from the equator to start the glaciation cycle.

         Once you have major snow cover it takes time to melt and the ground says colder allowing more build up the next year. For example in the Great Lakes, last year ice flows remained into June with lake temperature 7F below normal.

         Finally the snow stays year round and albedo kicks in.

         If you look at the shape of the glaciation of the Wisconsin Ice Age you can see footprint of the ‘Polar Vortex.’ A massive glacier loops down into the midwest and back up to the east coast while the west coast and Alaska are mainly ice free. Scotland and Scandinavia get plastered while Siberia does not.

       The shifting of the amount of solar radiation at different wavelengths causes shifts in the amount of ozone.

         There is something else going on here too Gail. The Earths magnetosphere and the Suns magnetosphere are both relatively weak right now thus there is more potential for cosmic rays to penetrate to the atmosphere
