In 1923, eminent scientists announced that Earth was running out of water, and that we would have to build a world-wide system of irrigation like the Martians did.
10 Jul 1923 – IS THE EARTH DRYING UP ? PESSIMISTIC PREDICTIONS…
If you aren’t in academia, you simply aren’t qualified to question the clueless buffoons they call “scientists.”
Yes, you are not qualified to question eminent scientists. That is why the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics, like the earlier Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore and the UN IPCC, were rewarded to disguise false science as eminent science.
Just don’t forget that now we know that neutrinos have mass and change flavors 🙂
For many years I was actively involved in measuring double-beta decay to see if the basic laws of physics were (valid/invalid) over the longest measurable time periods, e.g., O. K. Manuel, “Geochemical measurements of double-beta decay,” Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics 17, S221-S229 (1991):

You have had a long and stellar career!
On a serious note, I would suggest that a serious negative result of all the significant AGW hoopla is that serious environmental problems that may exist are being over looked.
Specifically, as mentioned here—-water, where it is, where it isn’t and what is in it.
Two articles which I have read have the following in the abstract.
1) 42% of ocean rise has been calculated to be from water run off land.
(that water water coming from aquifers)
2) The huge aquifer that lies under seven U.S. States has been continually decreasing in quantity. Also, on the edges of it and other aquifers, there has been an increase in salt (sea) water.
In California, it might be a good idea to use energy to convert salt to fresh water instead of
giving BS about climate change.
That’s what Perth and Adelaide have done. Rather than empty the aquifers causing sea water to ingress, like Jakarta, we put in some desal plants powered by gas fired electricity. Desalination supplies 30% of Perth’s and Adelaide’s water. The population of Perth has almost doubled in 25 years so the Indian Ocean is our best source of fresh water. Greenies freak out that engineers solved this. They protested all the way and still do.
Yet they insisted on desal plants in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Greenies and left-wing governments are so, so DUMB !!!
100%.
Veolia benefited greatly from the NSW govt decision to build it.
$1.8 Billion to build and $500 million to not operate it.
And the CFMEU would have pocketed some big bucks as well.
Andy and Andy—
Thanks for the info—I was completely unaware of all that.
Another way in which the US is coming up short, and could learn
from many including Down Under.
Andy, also add that if not for CO2 growth, whatever the cause, we would need about 15% more water globally to grow the food we now have!
Here in Santa Barbara, we built a desal plant in the early 90’s. It was finished, and it was allegedly fully functional. But before we started actually using it, the rain came. So they basically locked the doors, and walked away. About a year ago, they started looking in to finally starting it up. After 20 years of total neglect, with apparently zero effort made to properly mothball it, our desal plant is useless. They estimated that it would be cheaper to start over, than to get the old one working. It turned out not to matter, though. The state of California has revoked our permit. From what I’ve heard, the whole idea was dropped when the state said we shouldn’t bother asking for a new one.
I guess that’s why they didn’t question Orson Wells about the Martian invasion.
Welles
snigger,
Actually I wonder if that was not a covert test to see how well the MSM, used as a brainwashing tool, worked
Do not forget the author, H.G. Wells, was a member of the Fabian Society.
Science has become a de facto political party ; bent on national socialism.
+1
What is it with scientists who are fascinated with the idea of extraterrestrial life. That reference to Mars was hilarious. But even today I get the sense they’re bound and determined to find life elsewhere.
Alan : the life they are fascinated about on Mars is bacteria ; with no intelligence to challenge them.
LOL
Mars used to have a robust and hot core, aka an active magnetosphere.
That changed during its last attempt at a polar phase transition 😉
A cool core is the end result of what we see today, which equates to no more robustness in magnetic activity…
“And the little screaming fact that sounds through all history: repression works only to strengthen and knit the repressed.” – John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath
This is what political and pseudo-scientific elites forget.
Obama masqueraded as a champion of the downtrodden and then sold them out.
Hilliary sold out 40 years ago.
Trump is championing the same downtrodden, and doesn’t need to sell out. It remains to be seen whether he will follow Obama’s lead or be more like Reagan.
When the word “They” shows up in media publications, always ask, who is they!
So the smoke and aerosols used as a crutch in climate models to provide cooling to mask exaggerated warming during the calibration periods, actually have a warming effect. Oops.

“Calibration period.” That’s a phrase that needs to be used more often. The “hide the decline” email was never about hiding a decline in temperatures. It was about hiding the decline in the predictive value of proxy temperature measurements, THROUOUGHT THE CALIBRATION PERIOD. All of these models are based on proxies that mysteriously stop predicting temperatures at the exact moment when we started comparing them to those temperatures. By any scientific, legal, or logical standard, the proxy measurements have been invalidated. By extension, the models based on them are utter fabrications.
