There has been a sharp decline in the amount of Arctic sea ice over the past week, like there always is in early July.
This is due almost entirely to ice loss in the Hudson Bay, Baffin Bay, and The Canadian Archipelago. The Arctic Basin has seen little loss over the past week.
Temperatures in the Arctic Basin are forecast to remain cool for most of the rest of the month.
Leading experts say the Arctic will be ice-free in about eight weeks. Reggie will have to get his blowtorch out.
