Disaster Looms For Climate Alarmists

Climate alarmists claim they love Arctic ice, but when you show them that the ice isn’t melting – they get very angry.

Sea ice volume is normal, up 10% from last year, and continues to grow.

Thick sea ice covers the Arctic Basin and blocks all possible shipping routes through the Arctic.

Sea ice extent is normal.

The only location where sea ice extent is below normal is the Bering Sea.

This is very bad news for alarmists, because the Bering Sea normally melts during May. The fact that there is no ice to melt there now, means there will be little reduction in extent over the next month.

Temperatures are forecast to remain very cold over the ice for the next few weeks. Ice doesn’t melt below 0C, except in the minds of climate scientists.

But be heartened climate alarmists!  Your prophet says all the ice will melt by the end of this summer.

Griff……how much frozen water should be in the Arctic Ocean?

    • arn says:

There is a reason why Griff is posting here in most cases
only about the arctic ice topics.
The rest (especially the data tampering adjustments) are ignored by her.
Seems there isn’t that much left for the cult to ring the alarm bells
      without being instantly debunked.

      • Griff says:

I’m particularly interested in arctic sea ice.

I’m not very interested in US domestic temperature series or the peculiarities of US politics (e.g. aliens voting. Those grey guys are kinda cute though?)

        • arn says:

And i thought you were just worried about climate .
At least you have now obtained enough data to realise that there is too much addo about too much nothing and that many climate experts share the same mentality of journalists who always pave the way for bombing the shit out of countries with ressources

          calling mexicans grey :)

        • Gator says:

Ma Griff is particularly interested in starving poor brown people to death. She cares for nothing else.

  2. Steven Fraser says:

Though it cannot be seen on their chart, DMI Sea Ice Volume for 2018 May 2 now exceeds the 2013 value for that day, making 2018 # 10 highest of the 16 years of results. Years with less ice volume for the date are (in decreasing Ice Volume order) 2013, 2015, 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2016.

  3. AndyG55 says:

    UAH April 2018 +0.21ºC… (SCARY HOT !!)

7th warmest April in UAH record

Year to date.. I make 2018 in 9th place,

… (but its nearly midnight here. I’ll check again in the morning !)

  4. R. Shearer says:

It’s above normal for this interglacial in a longer term perspective.

  5. Griff says:

Isn’t this a repeat? This is getting as bad as UK TV channels!

“because the Bering Sea normally melts during May” and now it has already melted by the START of May.

The end of April is the point at which volume peaks and thickness is still near highest in any year, nor are the sea routes usually open… so comments on those are frankly redundant at this point.

It is however when the melting season starts and extent starts falling. Extent is at second lowest in last 8 years and with the Bering already melted out, that’s not a good start to the season in terms of avoiding low extent.

    • Latitude says:

Griff….you can’t claim something is abby-normal and not define normal first.

How much ice should be in the Arctic ocean right now?

      • Gator says:

Ms Griff is clearly not interested in ice, it’s all about starving poor brown people to death. A terminal patient and/or concerned family will not dismiss possible good news out of hand, unless death is their only focus.

    • GW Smith says:

Avoid what? The tiny Being Sea, which was blown out of the race by the Jet Stream, coming in second to last in only the last 8 years? Why not go back 10,000 years, or 100,000 years? Trying to force a “trend” in so little time is foolish.

    • Andy DC says:

At the very least, Griff needs to admit that there has been a ten year pause, if not a significant recovery of Arctic Sea Ice. I predict that Griff will have disappeared into his hole long before September rolls around.

      • Griff says:

er… no. I don’t. Look at the recent developments over arctic winters which have seen record low extents… volume continues to trend down… the thick multi year ice has gone… 2016 was what -the third lowest september extent record?

        • Gator says:

You mean forty years Ms Griff? How old is the Earth Ms Griff? How much ice, on average, has there been in the Arctic over the past 9000 years Ms Griff?

And finally, why do you hate poor brown people Ms Griff?

        • AndyG55 says:

          “volume continues to trend down”

          LIAR !!!

        • AndyG55 says:

Much more “old ice” than 10 years ago griff.

The RECOVERY from the extreme highs of the 1970’s, similar to the LIA, has stalled. !!

What excuse will you use for your bed-wetting, now ??

It will be HILARIOUS watching your tantrum-like antics as sea ice starts to increase over the next several years.

  6. R. Shearer says:

Over a foot of new global warming in Colorado mountains today.

  7. Steve Case says:

Ice doesn’t melt below [zero deg] C, except in the minds of climate scientists.
Hairdryer wind’ melts snow in Antarctica

Dr Suzanne Bevan from Swansea University College of Science said:

“This finding is significant because if the ponds cause ice shelves to break up, the glaciers feeding the ice shelves will speed up and discharge more ice from the land to the oceans leading to sea-level rise.

Satellite data analysed by Swansea researchers confirms the in-situ observations by automatic weather stations.”

    The Bullshit never stops

    • Cam says:

“These lakes can be fifty meters wide, up to a kilometer in length and one or to two meters deep.” So the total volume in these temporary lakes could be up to 0.0001 cubic kilometers. The estimated volume of Antarctica ice is 26.5 million cubic kilometers. I’ll save my panic for some real evidence that there is something to worry about here.

  8. Daniel says:

Looks like NASA is reporting on the low ice levels in the Bering Sea, the only place ice is actually low. They also claim its the worst since 1850. However, I’d like to see some records on the Bering sea past what they’re showing. Even if it is the worst since 1850, How does it compare really to the last 30 years, not just the last 5 or so? They also say 2013 was “normal.” Was it really normal for the Bering Sea or was it closer to the 1979 arctic cover when things were at their best in a century?
I find I keep having to ask questions about details because it’s impossible to trust the narrative.
What is NOT shown is just as important as what IS shown.

  9. Griff says:

    NSIDC May report just posted…

“Sea ice extent in the Bering Sea remains at record low levels for this time of year. Total ice extent over the Arctic Ocean also remains low and consists of a record-high amount of first-year ice. This means the ice cover is unusually thin and large areas are susceptible to melting out in this coming summer.”

do check out this chart showing record low levels of multi year ice… with comparison to 1984

and much more in the report about abnormally warm winter, open sea N of Greenland, etc

    • Gator says:

A forty year low? So what? The truth is that there is more ice in the Arctic now than the average of the past 9000 years. Why do you leftists cherry pick dates, lie, and hate poor brown people?

    • AndyG55 says:

Still WAY more than for most of the first 9000 years of the Holocene.

The extent is not LOW, it is HIGH !!!

Only just a bit down from the EXTREME HIGH ANOMALY of the LIA.

      Wouldn’t you agree, griff. !!

You still haven’t figured out that the Bering Strait is getting the tail end of the El Nino, have you , little muppet !!

No abnormally warm water anywhere up there, griff.

DMI ice thickness now 10th out of the last 16 years.
