What brought down feudalism, and the absolute power of the clergy, was the printing press, making information directly available to the masses. Our modern scientific clergy imagine themselves to be the single custodians of knowledge, and will go the same way as the medieval church.
Feudalism was brought down by firearms.
War amongst knights was a gear sport … massive investment in training, armour and weapons. When a bunch of low born peasant farmers lined up with muskets can drill through the best heavy cavalry then you can kiss goodbye to chivalry after that.
Rifles are cheap to mass produce, much easier to learn than swordsmanship, and up until the invention of the tank, there was no workable defence against them. Even now we have tanks that can be destroyed by fairly simple RPGs (as the IDF discovered) or by Kamikaze drones (as both the Russians and Ukrainians figured out).
