The perpetual drought in New Mexico continues.
Sw US is a dry place, I’ve heard cactuses even grow in some areas there.
in fact, you might even refer to most of the area as “desert”… it’s been that way for millennia.
Your timing for that bit of misdirection is way off.
1/22/2015 Snow blankets U.S. Southwest

winter storm dumps more than a foot of snow in the Texas Panhandle – 11th snowiest day in Amarillo since 1892 – Whiteout conditions in New Mexico, closing roads and schools.
In El Paso, the Texas Department of Transportation was warning motorists to stay off the roads and watch for black ice on roadways.
In New Mexico, State Police tweeted several road closures and crashes due to “whiteout conditions.”
I- 10 westbound was closed in Las Cruces, where up to 5 inches of snow was recorded by midday. Up to a foot of snow fell east of Raton, New Mexico, in the town of Folsom.

Maybe the have some precip, but SW USA is a dry area of North America.
I’ve seen the Salt River in phoenix with more water than the Mississippi
Mostly, it depends on altitude. Above 6,000 feet you can get a lot of summer rain storms and snow in winter. The San Francisco Peaks at Flagstaff go to 11,500 feet and can retain snow into late July. It’s a skiing area. On Mount Lemmon by Tucson there is a ski chalet that is sometimes open by Thanksgiving. If you go camping in the White Mountains west of Show Low in the summer your tent better be water proof. There are skiing areas there, too. Dry is a relative term.
If you camp near Yuma, elevation 220 feet, during the fall through spring, you better love scorpions, tarantulas, and snakes, because you may be sharing your sleeping bag with them if you sleep on the ground. In the summer you really will dry up and blow away. However, the city has created a beach along the Colorado River that gets heavy use in the summer.
I think Dave is being sarcastic.
Thank you
And before the latest snow storms in New Mexico on January 5, 2013 — A sure sign of global warming is when 80% of New Mexico is covered with snow.

All of this moisture coming up out of the Gulf is gonna push off to the east and hit Altoona.
Looks like Phil might be safe.
🙂 great movie!
Great rodent!
I like my whole hog ground hog BBQed with red sauce.
Northern Hemisphere snow cover through January 27, 2015. Vast majority shows no anomaly. Meaning there is a lot of snow in the NH. Though portions of the Western U.S. could sure use some snow.

Just heard a radio report, lowest snow on Vancouver Island since the 1970s. Followed by some professor explaining this is exactly what global warming theory predicts.
Technicolor yawn!
Except for when there’s lots of snow, in which case it’s exactly what global warming theory predicts.
They’re still wondering why they’re not being taken seriously; it’s seriously not funny any more.
Let me guess, basket case Andrew Weaver?
The global warming Cassandras continue ro bat 100% with their after-the-fact predictions of whatever just happened.

All citizens along the I95 corridor should report to their assigned concentration camps. All travel is banned. Communications are forbidden. This is for your own protection.
Meanwhile, in ‘straya, in the future, snow prone areas can expect… wait for it: snow!:

Fox-owned News here makes the ABC look tame in terms of hysterics.
Gaia has a great sense of humor!
we are being ripped off in Wyoming with all the precip hogs out there. I think I will drink a beer and pout.
Does that say, DC’s maximum possible snowfall is 11.6 feet? [over 10 days]
The chart reads in inches.
Ah 139.5 in = 11.6 feet. My question is I had not seen the MAX line before. So apparently Maximum of 11.6 is some kind of 99.9% confidence upper limit. Was interested if anyone knew anything about why and how that is there.
The Weather Street model isn’t being so generous. It will be interesting to compare the two over the next week.
“Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”, also known as “Let It Snow”, is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945. It was written in Hollywood, California during a heat wave .

A version that I penned a few years back…
Let It Snow
Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But our fraud is so delightful,
So off to Cancun we’ll go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
We have no plans for stopping,
And your cash we’ll soon be copping;
The curly lights really blow,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
When we’ve given you a good fright,
About some drought or a storm;
And if we get our way you might,
Not be able to keep yourself warm.
The fraud is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we’re all still lying,
But as long as we’re in Mexico.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
+1
Excellent gator!
But the European model is backing off that now. Shazzbat!
