My home state of New Mexico has become a giant eyesore on the election map..
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

I hopefully donate to Herrell in hopes that she could take out one of those seats, and I think she ran a good grassroots campaign, but alas… I think what needs to happen now is a Ron DeSantis make over of government on a national scale. If done well, a lot of these districts will go even more right next time. Most everywhere when a little right this time. If they see a change for the good, they’ll go all in next time.
Yep, I remember the good ol’ days of Manuel Lujan Jr and Pete Domenici, and briefly Harrison Schmitt while I was there. I don’t recall Schmitt’s replacement, Democrat Jeff Bingaman, being all that extreme. People ask why I don’t move back. I tell ’em I don’t care for the colder temperatures, but the truth is, the politics there would be intolerable.
You go 40 miles east or west of the Rio Grande and you won’t have to discuss politics with anyone.
This map also shows we have far too many States and senators.
There is no functional difference among Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire or Massachusetts – they should be merged into Ver-mania with just 2 senators.
Same for RhodevIsland, Connecticut and New York. Merge them as Apple-loonia with just 2 senators.
And how about New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland? Call them MaDJersia with 2 senators.
And West Virginia? Seriously – a whole state? Merge with Kentucky and no one will notice if “Robert C Byrd” is removed from all the infrastructure.
Merge coastal California with Hawaii as Coasta-loonia and reform California out of the mountains, Great Valley, volcanoes, and the Big Sur coast. No change in senator count, but clear separation of state interests.
Repeal the 17th and return senator selection to the State legislatures and let them represent State interests, not their own financial and ego interests.
84 senators is plenty.
And term limits not to exceed 12 years total for any person elected/selected as Representative, Senator, or both by any State
Fun to consider
I prefer to merge all of the Red States with Texas and call it Texas and separate from the Union. The allow the Blue states to vote county by county on whether they are in Texas or People’s Republic, and pretty soon you just have these interloper cities in a sea of red.
To offer an amendment to your eminently reasonable proposition re: Northern NE: The Maine I grew up in was rock-solid conservative and frugal to the point of cheap. And dirt poor. NH was the same but had a tradition of wealthy land holders. VT was and is just poor. But pretty. Merge the three and call it Nostalgia Land. Maybe charge admission like a theme park. MA is a different animal, a grotesquely mutated one. I live in the Berkshires; it should be re-designated as an asteroid with all the prerogatives of sovereignty. The greater Boston area, a fetid cesspit of ivory-tower Bolshevism, should be walled off. The wall should be painted in Soviet Red (that would create jobs) with signs saying “Abandon hope all ye who enter here.” CT as you say is a suburb of NYC, they should annex it as another borough. RI could serve as a parking lot
Right you are, William
Far too many states are loaded with wonderful hard-working people in rural settings whose votes are cancelled by a couple of dying urban cesspools of Marxist poison
