   When it all washes out we will probably find that it warmed from 1600 to 1900 and has been cooling since. The continued ice melt is due to thermal lag and the warming temperatures are an artifact of the methods used to study them rather than actual changes in temperatures. I would not be at all surprised to find we are at about the same temperature as 1880 or there about.

   We are actually in the coldest times of 10,000 years you are correct the 1880s were the coldest time in 10,000 years !!!

     And I think most of the warming since then is an artifact of the methods which would make any observed warming well within error or equal to no real warming at all. Just natural variations in weather that were observed throughout the LIA.
