The winds have stopped blowing in the Arctic which is why the ice edge has stopped moving.

    If the winds don’t pick up, does that mean that this year’s ice melt is just about complete? There is certainly no sign of a significant warm spell in the High Arctic any time soon.

    What about larger weather patterns? Is the arctic oscillation setting up for favorable conditions for ice or unfavorable?
