1047 Days And Counting

Due to the unprecedented extreme weather caused by an increase of 0.00009 CO2 mole fraction over the last hundred years, the US has gone 1047 days without a hurricane strike.

Will Don end the streak?

Looks likely. There is a load of heat-content in the GoM just east of Texas so….despite marginal conditions for significant strengthening, Don may just make it to Category 1 status before landfall.

    I sure hope so! :))

  3. PearlandAggie says:

Well, on second thought, I hope Don makes it to Texas but doesn’t break the streak!! LOL However, I’d be willing to bet that folks around here would be willing to take a minimal category 1 hurricane right about now.

  4. Phil Nizialek says:

GOM water vapor loop shows a lot of dry air between Don and the coast. That should depress development. As a result, this could be the perfect storm for helping large parts of Texas moisten up from a pretty serious drought. Nothing better for that than a TS moving inland at Corpus and then raining itself out over the Edwards Plateau.

  5. Latitude says:

Too much push coming down…and Don doesn’t have enough ULC to plow through it….

I say Don’s going to follow that clean air to Mexico……….

This may be the biggest farce yet. Looking at the satellite photo, it’s hard to find it.

  7. PJB says:

One reason for “concentrating” efforts on TCs is if they see development coming, they can give about 36 to 48 hours advance warning to allow for preparation/evacuation. Should no warning be given and property losses get high…heads would roll. Not the precautionary principle so much as the pecuniary principle.

Probably reach land as a tropical storm and then die out.

However it will be powering up those wind farms to compensate for all the electricity people in the USA use searching out historical stories on Google news 😀
