1871 : Chicago Destroyed By Fire In A “Perfect Gale”

Many other cities around Lake Michigan burned to the ground that day, as well as hundreds of thousands of acres of forest and grassland.

While we can’t blame this particular fire on very low CO2, experts tell us that increased CO2 makes these events occur more frequently.

Another disaster caused by bovine interfernce. Farted on a lamp, or something…

    That’s a serious fire.

Let’s compare to today using rough numbers. World population in 1870 was approx 1.3 Billion. In 2010 we had 6.9 billion. Inflation ratio is 1:5.307

So for net human population, the death of 8000 people in 1870 would be equivalent to approx 42,456 today.

That is quite a toll, either in real or proportional numbers.

Fire is such a calamity and kills scores every day. Possibly the biggest killer of all time. I remember one dummy on a thread at WUWT, Joel Shore, trying to sell the trillions for AGW as kinda like fire insurance. Stupid is as stupid does.
