Kevin Trenberth’s response to our paper, rather predictably, was:
“I cannot believe it got published”
Which when translated from IPCC-speak actually means, “Why didn’t I get the chance to deep-six Spencer’s paper, just like I’ve done with his other papers?”
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

We must have gate keepers assigned to keep the likes of Spencer and Lindzen from publishing!!!
It’s interesting that the Kev thinks he’s qualified to comment on a study about sat. data by Dr. Spencer. Spencer even assists the Kev in solving his travesty puzzle and the ingrate just disses him.
In the long run, Trenbreth is going to be one of the most intersting characters in the CAGW story. He is conflicted because he can’t find the heat in the system even though he has both very good TOC data from Argo but makes presenentations at conferences justifying the “denier” term and the spouts off about blocking publication of a paper he disagrees with. I think that kind of character is known as one with the tragic flaw.
Trenberth seems to be intellectually challenged.
I love it when honesty prevails. 😉
