    Six more weeks before the endless night commences at the South Pole.
    Doubt there was much melting there this year.
    Not unless the melting point of water has changed to -55 F.

    I’m not sure that Vostok Station is the best example, seeing that it’s at over 11000 feet elevation. 11000 feet is going to be cold almost anywhere.
