The Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control. dictated by a political system euphemistically named Ingsoc under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as thought crimes. Their tyranny is headed by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. Big Brother and the Party justify their rule in the name of a supposed greater good.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Just so. But what amazes me is that socialism, in theory and practice, was described by Plato in his Republic 2,500 years ago.
There are clearly two human views of the role of the state, libertarian and statist.
Sounds all too familiar and way too close to home!
Bear mind that Ingsoc is English Socialism….which is a derivative of Fabian Socialism. Our political/economic system is also a derivative of the same Fabian roots. Our entire policy apparatus is the hands of advocates of the slow Revolution…
Well except for the Neocons, follows of Trotsky. Hence the recent onslaught of wars.
Ah, Trotsky; the French Turn.
Kudos for using the correct title for Eric Blair´s novel.
1984, a blueprint for the 21st century.
And the Spanish Civil War, in which Eric Blair volunteered, a blueprint for our own.
Socialists on all sides.
Blair, the English Fabian, fought with socialists, of course 😉
Pretty hard to win a war, when you do not even know who the enemy is.
Forward! Forward!
