Nature : Ocean Warming Causes Expanded Sea Ice

Nature Magazine reaches for new levels of stupidity!

Ocean warming may be a major driver of sea-ice expansion in the Antarctic, researchers report today in Nature Geoscience

Global warming expands Antarctic sea ice : Nature News & Comment

Warmer water causes more sea ice? Waikiki Beach must be frozen solid.

It would be far more truthful to say that stupidity causes increased global warming funding.

The idea is that Antarctic landice is so warm its meltwater runs in to the sea and there its so cold it becomes ice…well ill agree on that idea if they show me the temprecords that amazingly changes from warm to cold right at the shoreline of Antarctica…if this phenomena goes on we can walk from Chile over the ice to the hot Antarctic island…its standup comedy.

    • The simpler and more logical explanation is that sea ice is expanding because it’s getting colder, not warmer. The obvious problems are that (a) AGW theory argues that Antarctica should be gaining mass, not loosing it. (Although it’s possible, I suppose, in theory that the mass gain is pushing more ice into the ocean surrounding it). Unfortunately, there is no data to support the idea that there has been any change in surface mass balance, which is the part that involves AGW theory. And (b) there has been no measurable warming trend there for 30+ years.

So… the next glacier to bury Chicago will come from the south this time.

Interesting experiment. Take an empty ice tray and fill it with water. Place it in your stove. Turn on stove. Set heat to at least 300 F and wait for ice to form.

  4. John says:

It’s been an hour now and the water keeps disappearing somehow.
How can I keep the water in the trays long enough to form ice?

Making things up as they go along.

    • T.O.O. says:

      John,
More likely it has to do with more large sheets of sea ice breaking up and scattering about — you only need 1/7th of the measured zone to have ice on it to be counted into the sea ice measurement area

      • Justa Joe says:

Nature says that sea ice is expanding. You’re saying that sea ice is not expanding but only appearing to expand because it’s breaking up. The “science” is truly settled.

    • T.O.O. says:

      Ken,
      Are you sure about that?

“The most pronounced change in the Southern Ocean is the circumpolar warming in the region of the ACC in recent decades (Figure 11) (Gille, 2002, 2008; Levitus et al.,2005), the rate of which exceeds that of the global ocean as a whole. While the warming is surface-intensified, with magnitudes of more than a tenth of a degree C per decade
near the surface, the signal extends to more than 1000 m depth. As a result of this deep-reaching temperature change, more heat has been stored in the Southern Ocean as the
Earth warms than in any other latitude band.”

Well, by now, we should know, that whatever tptb (includ. NASA & the UN) say / tell us, is EXACTLY the opposite.

  8. Carbon Tax is the great Driver, 60% for each Nation and 40% for U.N. Now with that waiting would you not believe in Climate Chains. Tax, Tax, When they started Income Tax in 1913 it was only 1% for the Truly Wealthy. Just a little Bit.
