NSIDC Says That The Arctic Is Melting

Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
Not!
We had -16 F this morning in the upper Copper River Basin.
The height differential in the jet stream dominates and note the anti-cyclical pattern up north.
Typically you’ll see the jet lower to surface at the poles and higher as you move toward the equator.

The ice is melting, it’s just a “hard” melt.
Last year we were told that all we had to do was look out our window for proof of global warming. This year, when I look out my window I see cold where daytime highs have been 20 degreesF below average for 6 weeks. I figure I need some new windows that show warmer climate when I peer outside, so I’m headed for some ocean front windows in Ft. Myers Florida. 🙂
Just you deniers wait until September. Then we’ll show you. Again.
( ……. unless a convenient Arctic cyclone fails to show up……. )
Or late August:)
I think I see Kevin ONeal in his ice breaking canoe in the distance.
Good thing this ice is so warm and easy to row through! Good luck with the rest of your trip Kev!
And the Cherry trees are apparently at the full bloom 70% condition.
From the festival:
“2013 Peak Bloom: Because of cooler daytime and nighttime temperatures recently, the peak bloom is expected to occur April 6-8, when 70 percent of the cherry trees along the Tidal Basin are in bloom. The duration of the peak bloom is dependent on weather conditions; high winds, rain, or frost may shorten the period.
Average Peak Bloom Date: April 4”

NSIDC have satellite callibration issues.
Same as the Grace satellite. One of the latest findings for Grace was it could be over estimating Glacier and Ice Sheet loss by upto 50%.
NASA has callibration issues aswell. It also depends whose pushing the buttons and reading the GIGO data!
