Experts have been telling us that Colorado in extreme drought and that it is only going to get worse.
The Colorado Climate Center at CSU confirmed this storm’s record of 14.9 inches at the university’s central campus. Higher elevation areas got significantly more snow, including 27 inches near Estes Park.
They also tell us that global warming has destroyed the ski industry.

Vail and Breckenridge Extend Ski Seasons
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — April 16, 2013 —Breckenridge Ski Resort and Vail officials announced today they will extend the two resorts’ ski seasons one additional weekend, April 19-21, due to the large amounts of snow the resorts have received over the last part of the season. At Vail 24 inches has fallen since closing day of the 50th anniversary season. Additional snow is in the forecast this week for both resorts.

Study: Climate change may force skiers uphill

DENVER — A study of two Rocky Mountain ski resorts says climate change will mean shorter seasons and less snow on lower slopes.

What they actually said:
University of Colorado-Boulder geography professor Mark Williams said Monday that the resorts should be in fairly good shape the next 25 years , but after that there will be less snowpack — or no snow at all — at the base areas, and the season will be shorter because snow will accumulate later and melt earlier.

The trend is in the opposite direction. They have no idea what they are talking about.
2011 had record spring snow and flooding, and 2010 also brought flooding from heavy snowpack
There is no way to prove or disprove any prediction that goes out 25 years, therefore any such prediction is meaningless. I can predict that within 25 years, little green men from Jupiter will take over Earth. That statement cannot be disproved. What can be proved is no trend toward Mark Williams’ prediction at present time.
Gina,
Steve is right, it’s the trends. They almost gave up on the Scottish ski industry a few years back yet snow is now back in a big way. So big it caused some resorts to close temporarily. The Alps also enjoyed a good year. The point is people blamed low amounts of snow on Scottish resorts on global warming yet, as the world is still warm we have bumper years.
Five inches here in the Grand Valley with record cold tonight. There goes the peach crop.
We’re hoping we don’t have another late freeze like last year that killed the apple crop in Connecticut.
