Tackling Rising Fake News By Shameless Journalists

The fake news Guardian predicts six feet of seal level rise, and a giant hurricane to hit Atlantic City, New Jersey every five years.

Sea Level Trends – State Selection

New Jersey hasn’t been hit by a hurricane since 1944. New Jersey did suffer damage from Sandy’s storm surge in 2012, but the storm made landfall in New York. New Jersey hurricane landfalls occurred in 1878, 1903, 1934 and 1944 – and none since.

New Jersey’s land is sinking, which has caused a relative rise in sea level of one foot over the last century. The rate has been steady since 1910, and sea level at Atlantic City is barely higher than it 20 years ago. It will take about 600 years for six feet of sea level rise at Atlantic City, has nothing to do with carbon dioxide, and a carbon tax will have zero impact on the land sinking.

Climate fraudsters are correctly afraid of losing funding, and are ramping up their lies to spectacular new levels in an attempt to influence public opinion and policy.

My Editorial In The Santa Fe New Mexican

I was born and raised in Los Alamos, worked as a scientist at Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories, and have been an active environmentalist all my life. Forty-five years ago this May, I traveled with my high school history teacher, Mary Louise Williams of El Rancho, to a congressional hearing and testified in support of the Escalante Wilderness in Utah. I was active in the fight for the clean air and water acts. I volunteered for two summers during the 1980s as a wilderness ranger in the Cibola and Santa Fe National Forests.

I now live in Boulder, Colo., and do all my commuting and shopping on a bicycle. I’m a well-known blogger in support of cycling, mass transit and protecting the environment. But I am best known as a climate change skeptic who is closely aligned with the Trump administration and the Trump Environmental Protection Agency. I provide much of the historical climate information used by the Trump EPA transition team and congressional Republicans.

Last week, I was attacked by The New York Times as part of a wildly misleading hit piece against EPA administrator Scott Pruitt. A similar article attacking Pruitt (“EPA head rejects climate change science,” March 10) was published by The Washington Post and reprinted in The New Mexican.

As an insider, I know that there is no conspiracy against science or the environment in the Trump administration or at the Trump EPA. Quite the opposite — they are very serious about protecting the environment. The Obama EPA was obsessed with carbon dioxide and ignored actual pollution problems like the Flint, Mich., water supply. Two years ago, the EPA directly caused one of the largest toxic waste spills in the Animas River in Colorado after being warned for weeks to stop its activities there. No one in the EPA was ever held accountable or punished for that disaster.

The Washington Post story featured Pruitt’s statement, “There is tremendous disagreement about [human impact] on climate.” This is not an attack on science, it is a statement of fact. A 2013 survey of professional members of the American Meteorological Society found that only 52 percent believe humans are primarily responsible for global warming. No legitimate survey of scientists has ever come close to the 97 percent number used in TheWashington Post article. Mark Twain famously said, “There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

Dr. William Gray of Colorado State University, who passed away last year at age 86, was a good friend of mine. He invented modern hurricane forecasting and was the best respected tropical meteorologist in the world. Dr. Gray was very vocal against exaggerated claims about global warming. On his deathbed, he asked me to continue his legacy against climate hysteria.

Former U.S. senator from New Mexico, Dr. Harrison Schmitt, is the only scientist to have walked on the moon and is a well-known climate change skeptic. Physicist Freeman Dyson is a well-known climate change skeptic and was once described by The New York Times as being “infinitely smart.” Dr. Edward Teller was father of the American hydrogen bomb and was a well-known climate change skeptic. Dr. William Happer of Princeton is President Donald Trump’s likely science adviser and a well-known climate change skeptic. There are tens of thousands of scientists who agree with Pruitt’s questions about human impact. Science is about open discussion and debate, not dogma, censorship and personal attacks.

Eighty-four percent of U.S. counties voted for President Trump. Let’s work together with our new president and the rest of America to keep America’s environment great.

MASIE Scripts

Many climate scientists are too dimwitted to publish data in a form which can be easily graphed, like MASIE data which comes in this format.

 2006182, 9652642.84,

2006182 means the 182’nd day of 2006. The second number is sea ice extent, but because it has a leading space, Open Office interprets it as a string rather than a number. I wrote some scripts to download and convert the MASIE data into something useful.

----- getMasie.bash -----
#!/bin/bash
rm -f masie_4km_allyears_extent_sqkm.csv
wget ftp://sidads.colorado.edu/DATASETS/NOAA/G02186/masie_4km_allyears_extent_sqkm.csv
python getMasie.py
mv tmpmasie masie_4km_allyears_extent_sqkm.csv

----- getMasie.py ------
import re
import math
fd = open("masie_4km_allyears_extent_sqkm.csv")
out = open("tmpmasie", "w")
for line in fd :
    if re.search("^ 2", line) :
        fields = line.split(",")
        date = fields[0].lstrip()
        float_date = float(date)/1000.0
        frac, whole = math.modf(float_date)
        real_frac = frac * 1000.0 / 365.0
        real_date = whole + real_frac
        extent = fields[1].lstrip()
        out.write(str(real_date) + "," + extent + "\n")
out.close()

This produces a usable .csv file which can be directly graphed.

Tracking The Fake News Washington Post Capital Weather Gang

The Washington Post Capital Weather Gang is having quite a year, featuring articles claiming the Arctic is “super-hot“, calling 2017 “the year without a winter” and predicting a  near record early cherry bloom in DC.

It is unlikely that there will be a peak bloom this year (>70% of blossoms in bloom) because most of the blossoms froze to death. The picture below was taken this morning.

And heavy snow forecast for DC on Wednesday.

Rescuing Boulder From Denver

What makes Boulder such a great place to live is that a long time ago, the city bought up huge tracts of land south and east of the city – as a buffer to keep Boulder separate from Denver. The city is now planning to let the University of Colorado develop the land, and move Boulder one step closer to being just another lousy suburb of Denver. I’m headed out to a meeting later this afternoon to map strategy to save Boulder.

What the City of Boulder should be doing is figuring out how to reduce traffic and pollution. Not increase it.

Climate Change : The Perfect Scam

We are having a very dry spring in Boulder, and the last few days have been very warm too. Last night it appears that someone lit multiple fires just west of town, and the wind has started to pick up in the last hour.

Slurry bombers are flying in from Denver.

This will of course be blamed on climate change.

Last March we had huge amounts of snow, and at a 2016 meeting of the Boulder Clean Power Plan, I asked a woman what she perceived was changing in Boulder’s climate. She said “it seems like it snows more in the spring than it used to.”

Climate change is the perfect scam, because you can blame anything on it.

Arctic Sea Ice Expanding For A Decade

Measuring from the March 2007 peak to the March 2017 peak (which is the correct way to measure trends) Arctic sea ice extent has expanded about 60 Manhattans per year over the past decade.

Barack Hussein Obama’s science czar John Holdren, took the idiocy one step further, and predicted ice-free Arctic winters at the 18:54 mark of this CBC interview .

…if you lose the summer sea ice, there are phenomena that could lead you not so very long thereafter to lose the winter sea ice as well. And if you lose that sea ice year round, it’s going to mean drastic climatic change all over the hemisphere.

A google search for “sea ice disappearing” produces 546,000 fake news results

Sea ice is not disappearing, but fake climate science soon will be. These people have no idea what they are talking about, and their funding needs to be cut off.

Progressive Thinking Shrinks Academic Brains

The latest work of genius from Seth Borenstein and his band of academic morons, is that global warming makes warm blooded animals shrink .

Global warming shrank animals in the past. Scientists say it could happen again.

That would explain why African mammals are so small.

African- Americans are also known for being very small, due to their heritage coming from a warm climate.

Experts say that climate change and CO2 is caused by humans, yet the study claimed that CO2 levels soared in the absence of any SUV’s.

Half Of Scientific Literature Is Untrue

The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue.

Climate Science Vs. Actual Science

All winter long, experts have been saying that the Arctic is super-hot and melting.

But somehow when hot Arctic air comes to Washington D.C, it becomes very cold and freezing.

Washington DC Cherry Blossom Watch Update: March 18, 2017

We need to stay on top of this until every last climate scamster has been exposed and rooted out.
