Metropolitan Police are investigating a Saturday morning assault and robbery as a hate crime.

Police said a man, 28, from Bethesda, Md., was attacked in the 1700 block of Euclid Street, NW, in Adams Morgan. The victim said he was approached by three black males who kicked and punched him to the ground.

According the victim, one of the attackers yelled, “This is for Trayvon,” during the assault. The victim suffered lacerations to the face from the attack.

Police said the suspects took the man’s wallet and iPhone. The police report lists the incident as “robbery force violence, hate bias incident.”

It’s apparent from these maps that the much later summer breakup of ice in Baffin Bay ice compared to Davis Strait is what Rode and colleagues don’t want us to see.

Big day today.

The rowers are about 13 km (as the crow flies) away from where they started today, and about 5km further away from Pond Inlet than they were this morning.

Yesterday, our friends were hysterical about a six inch deep pool of water which had accumulated around a buoy 350 km from the pole. They thought that bears were going to drown in it.

Fortunately, the life guard drained the pool.

According to the Navy, the Canadian and Alaskan Beaufort Sea coast is abutted by thick ice.

The intrepid rowers of course drove around that part in their truck. Their location is pointed to by the red arrow.
