Obama announced yesterday that he needs to raise energy prices because winter/spring 2012 was the mildest on record in the US.

Five of the last six January-June temperatures were below the 1920 to 2013 average.

2012 was an outlier. The trend since 1998 is down half a degree C.

President Obama should show that he is serious about global warming by turning off all coal fired electrical appliances in the White House, particularly the air conditioning units – which are killing polar bears and giving children asthma. (Fortunately he already shut down school tours to protect the children.)

They should do the same at the capitol building, and particularly at the EPA.

Save the planet – turn off coal fired electricity in DC.

In about half of years, ice breakup in Barrow has occurred this week. Some years it breaks up next week. In 2004, it broke up a week earlier.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A poll finds that President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings are skidding among voters in Ohio, the swing state he carried twice.

The poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University indicates that 57 percent of voters disapproved of the way Obama is doing things as president, his lowest grade ever in Ohio.

The poll finds 40 percent approve of Obama’s job performance, with independent voters moving away from the president.

The same poll earlier reported that Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s approval ratings reached a new high.

With 1.5 million dead people on the election rolls in Ohio, Obama would still win.
