I grew up primarily in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico. No one ever expected to ski before Christmas during the 1960s and 1970s, but after some very snowy years in the 1980s – expectations of Thanksgiving became the unrealistic norm.
Now those expectations feed mindless alarmist propaganda.

Dr. Hansen cited a model prepared by another scientist, Dr. Kerry Emmanuel, showing that the global warming trend is likely to intensify the severity of storms. He said the warming of the ocean would speed evaporation, which would cause more active convection currents in the atmosphere. This increased atmospheric activity could produce storms with 40 percent to 50 percent more kinetic energy than the fiercest storms known today. Hurricanes packing winds up to 225 miles an hour are foreseen.

The previous record was of 372 km/h, registered in April 1934 across the summit of Mount Washington, USA.
Eleven years later inn 1999, Hansen wrote this about droughts.
Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.
These “scientists” are completely useless spewers of propaganda, which is why the press trusts them.

The Arctic is rapidly melting, and global warming causes warm air (from the rapidly melting Arctic) to plunge south – and make lower latitudes freeze in record cold.

Hansen, director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, who presented recent data compiled from computer models, said that predicted regional effects of global warming show that the chances of summer drought in the low and middle latitudes would be 1 in 3 by the year 2030, as against 1 in 20 in the 1950’s.
More than half of the years during the 1950s were drought years. Hansen just makes numbers up as he goes along.

“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”
Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.

Iceberg calving has nothing to do with melt, climate change or anything else these morons imagine. Glaciers flow to the sea and calve icebergs. That is what they do.

Sea level is not rising in California. The tide gauge at Crescent City shows sea level declining and the ones at Alameda and Monterey show no change in sea level. Satellites show no sea level rise along the entire west coast.
