We need coastal communities around Australia to take a photo or two as part of the Witness King Tides project. Your photos of the king tide will build a picture of the threat posed by sea level rise for our communities and help track the future impact of climate change.

High tides have been happening since the oceans formed. Below are some photos of La Jolla California at high tide going back to 1871. Nothing has changed in 140 years.

A divestment campaign aimed at fossil fuel companies has swept college campuses across the country since it began just four weeks ago, catching university presidents by surprise.

The effort is the result of a student-led campaign coordinated by 350.org, a climate advocacy organization founded by author and activist Bill McKibben. The goal is to turn global warming action into the moral issue of this generation.

“Bottom line, for a college or university, you do not want your institution to be on the wrong side of this issue,” said Stephen Mulkey, president of Unity College in Maine.

The mercury in Canberra plummeted to 0.3 of a degree overnight – the coldest December minimum on record.

A duty forecaster from the Canberra office of the  Bureau of Meteorology said the minimum this morning was the coldest Canberra has experienced in 75 years of records.

Contrary to the BS being spouted by NOAA, July 2012 was the fourth hottest in the US after 1901, 1936 and 1934.

With just more than three weeks left in the year, it’s virtually certain that 2012 will displace 1998 as the warmest year on record for the contiguous U.S. according to NOAA. The agency’s monthly State of the Climate Report, released on Thursday, shows that temperatures across the lower 48 states averaged 44.1°F for November — 2.1°F higher than the 20^th century average.

The actual data NOAA is using shows that 2012 is third warmest after 1934 and 1921.

NOAA adjusts older temperatures downwards and recent temperatures upwards. The total adjustment is more than 1.5 degrees.

Most of the US has seen little or no sea level rise over the last 20 years. Sea level is declining across the entire west coast. Some areas off the east coast have seen sharp drops in sea level.

Experts say that sea level is rising very quickly in California, because they are either completely incompetent, or they are attempting to defraud the public to obtain money.
