Frightened Ehrlich Has Lived Far Past His Wildest Expectations

28 July 1971

“I’m scared,” the lean, intense scientist (Paul Ehrlich) told an interviewer. “I have a teenage daughter whom I love very much. I know a lot of young people, and their world is being destroyed – my world is being destroyed. I’m 37, and I’d like to live to be 67 in a reasonably pleasant world, not die in some kind of holocaust in the next decade.”

28 Jul 1971 – THE ROAD TO EXTINCTION

Ehrlich has lived to be almost 80 in a very pleasant world. Delusional fear has ruined his life and he is now a bitter old man. Perhaps he will do better in his next life.

Ehrlich 1971 : The Pope And Nixon To Destroy The Planet

Ehlrich said that young people would stop purchasing cars and gasoline.

28 July 1971

Dr. Ehrlich is savagely critical of people he labels as “environmental villains, ecological Uncle Toms, the dum-dums and yo-yos of the Establishment.”

Among his targets are the National Academy of Sciences, the Atomic Energy Commission, the Pope, the petrochemical industry, and President Nixon.

“President Nixon has made it abundantly clear that he can be counted on to do practically nothing . . . and if we ever should get our own country on the rightroad with the right leaders, we’re still going to have to work double hard to see to it that their counterparts in the Soviet Union, China, and so on, are also removed from power, and put out on the happy farm where they belong.”

Dr. Ehrlich feels that man’s last hope lies in the emergence of a new youth movement based on the population-pollution issue, and he foresees tremendous opposition to the movement from the Establishment.

“The movement is going to generate a lot of civil disobedience,” he points out, “similar to what we saw in the early days of civil rights: demonstrations, picketing, sit-ins. I think we will soon see boycotting of the automobile industry, the oil companies, the utilities. Among other things, people are just going to stop paying their bills.

Governor Moonbeam Making Plans To Move California To Mars

Gov. Jerry Brown told attendees at an environmental conference Friday that climate change must be prevented or humans might one day be forced to live on another planet.

The Democratic governor said future generations will be living “indoors … or we’ll be living on some other planet.”

Brown defends steps to fight climate change

Mars has 95% CO2 in their atmosphere, compared to 0.04% on Earth, so Mars seems like a sensible place to move to get away from CO2. It will clearly be much easier to adapt to the climate of Mars, than survive a 0.7 degree temperature change on Earth.

Governor Brown might totally recall that his predecessor in Sacramento took a trip to Mars in 1990, and found the planet somewhat lacking, but terraformable.

Arnie later abandoned his Mars plans in favor of impregnating his housekeeper.

Prior to Arnie’s 1990 Mars trip, leading scientists had already recognized that Mars was a lovely green place.

Guardian : American Fossil Fuels To Save The Planet

The Guardian says that American fossil fuels will save the planet from terrorist supporting regimes.

American energy independence looks likely to trigger the next great geopolitical shift in the modern world.

The US is the home to vast shale oil and gas deposits made commercially viable by improvements to a 200-year-old technique called fracking and by the relentlessly high cost of crude.

Long-term consequences for the rest of the world are hard to predict but it is probably safe to say that many of the regimes whose global role rests on hydrocarbons alone are likely to be significantly weakened, if not swept away.

How cheap energy from shale will reshape America’s role in the world | Environment | The Guardian

The Guardian also says that American fossil fuels have doomed the planet, and it is too late to do anything about it.

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama’s first administration, he added
