A few days ago they were hysterical about Colorado burning, and proclaimed that the worst fire season on record was just getting started.
The National Interagency Fire Center now reports that there are no large fires in Colorado, and that the number of fires in the US has been the lowest for the date since 2003.

Because climate change in the Arctic region is occurring faster and to a greater extent than anywhere else, the Arctic Ocean may be ice-free for a short period of time as early as the summer of 2015, according to the 2009 Arctic Marine Shipping Assessment Report completed by the eight Arctic Council Nations.

The animation below shows how USHCN turns a measured strong cooling trend since 1930, into a strong computer generated warming trend.
USHCN2 uses a three step process to cool the past and warm the present. Going from the actual measured daily data to “raw monthly” reduces the decline. The TOBS adjustment flips the trend from cooling to warming, and then a final mysterious adjustment creates a strong warming trend.
Whatever the final mysterious adjustment is, it has to include UHI – which would do the exact opposite of what we are seeing.
Watch those older temperatures plummet inside Tom Karl and James Hansen’s computer games, which are used to influence critical US government policy decisions.
They cool the 1930s by 1.3 degrees, and then claim that the past decade has been the warmest by a few tenths of a degree. Enron accountants would be proud of such fine data presentation.

According to the thermometers in the USHCN database, 1931 was the third hottest year on record in the US – after 1921 and 1934.
USHCN then adjusts 1931 temperatures downwards by a remarkable 2.51 degrees, before they publish it. The year 1931 had 708,317 valid thermometer readings, but somehow Tom Karl and James Hansen have recently determined that this huge body of data averaged 2.51 degrees too high. (This is the same James Hansen who can precisely calculate the temperature in the high Arctic, without a single thermometer reading north of 80N.)
So what else was going on in 1931?

This summer has seen some hot weather in places, as well as thunderstorms, a tree blowing over in front of the Capitol Building, and a 30 degree drop in Maryland temperatures in a few hours.
How much more evidence could I possibly require to voluntarily go back to the dark ages?

This got me interested to see what USHCN was doing to springtime temperatures. The graph below is what NCDC reports.
So I calculated the adjustments they did through 2011 vs. the raw daily data. Stunning indeed! They added about two degrees on to recent temperatures relative to 100 years ago.
The spring of 1934 was probably just a warm as spring 2012, but the data has been so severely altered, that the NCDC graphs are meaningless garbage

The human effects in the graph above are largely Hansen adjusting the data.
As far as the natural forces go, Dr. “Super El Nino Hansen tells us every year that El Ninos make the world hot, then he fails to recognize that the high ENSO values from 1977 to 2007 were the cause of the warming which did occur.
Hansen science seems to have become 100% confirmation bias and spin.

The next graph is what the actual USHCN thermometer data shows – a completely different story.
The recent data is upwards adjusted by 300% of the signal they are claiming to detect, indicating a signal to noise ratio of about 0.3 – i.e completely worthless data which no respectable scientist would use.
