The raw daily data shows these months as the warmest in the US since 1895. July of 1901 was the hottest month on record in the US, with CO2 at 300 ppm.

You can’t make this stuff up. We have been bombarded with propaganda about the record June heatwave in the US, which couldn’t have happened without global warming.
The thermometers tell a different story. They show that June, 2012 was the 33rd warmest June on record in the US, and was cooler than 1933 1934 1952 1911 1921 1931 1994 1918 1936 1953 1922 1925 1988 1987 1898 1900 1986 1956 1901 1899 1914 1943 1971 1959 1949 1981 1919 1977 and 1990
The adjusted data shows that June was 19th warmest and NCDC reported 15th warmest.
Joe Romm says that June was unprecedented.
I connected the dots below. They jacked temperatures up by 1.5 degrees, and still couldn’t crack the top 15.
The thermometer data shows no trend in US temperatures since 1900, with the three hottest years being 1921, 1934 and 1931.
That information won’t raise a lot of funding, so USHCN alters the data to make it look like the US is warming.
This is done in several steps. The conversion from raw daily to “raw” monthly mysteriously lowers most pre-1980 temperatures by about 0.2 degrees. Then they knock another 0.6 degrees off of the older raw temperatures for the TOBS adjustment, and then another huge chunk gets knocked off older records for things like anti-UHI effects. (Cities were of course much hotter 100 years ago, due to all the farting horses and lack of air conditioning.)
By the time these buffoons are done, they have created a man-made warming trend (red line) of about 1.5 degrees – which accounts for all of the claimed warming in the published USHCN data.

No doubt the current mild climate is worse than the Dust Bowl – but it is worse than it seems. Something fishy is going on with the official data. Most of the drought area has received heavy rain over the last two weeks (as much as 12 inches in Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee) but the US drought monitor shows the drought getting much worse.
I have been in contact with The US Drought Monitor and Rich Tinker at NOAA. They promised an explanation by last Friday, but I haven’t received it yet.

An extremely early sea ice melt-off has sent thousands of Pacific walruses onto the beaches of northwest Alaska, placing pups in danger of being crushed on the crowded shoreline for the fourth year out of the past five due to the abnormal weather conditions.
This year’s walrus haul-out, when the lumbering pinnipeds pull themselves ashore, comes a full three weeks earlier than last year’s — a potent symbol, environmental groups say — that global warming is at work.
And today there is more ice than normal around Alaska.
The height of summer has been reached on the Greenland ice sheet. Temperatures are a balmy -13C, and are about to start their descent towards winter.
(CNN) — The mainland United States, which was largely recovering Monday from a near-nationwide heat wave, has experienced the warmest 12 months since record-keeping began in 1895, a top government science and weather agency announced Monday.
The report from the National Climatic Data Center, which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, does not take into account blistering heat from this month, with 2,116 high temperature marks either broken or tied between July 2 and July 8 in communities nationwide.

We have been hearing that the last 12 months is the warmest in US history. It is not surprising, because USHCN is massively cheating – by adding 2.5 degrees on to 2012 temperatures relative to 100 years ago.
The graph below plots the adjustments which are being made to the average monthly mean temperatures.

Note that it is not TOBS which is the big offender. They have some massive data tampering going on after the year 2000. The US temperature record is corrupted beyond comprehension.
USHCN2 publishes files which claim to be the monthly average for all of their raw data.
For example, this file claims to show that the average maximum temperature in Brewton, Alabama (station #011084) was 59.7 degrees in January 1895

But when you look at their raw daily data, you can see that they don’t have any temperature readings for Brewton, Alabama prior to 1926.

I chose Brewton because it is the first entry in their database.
The third entry in the USHCN database is Fairhope, Alabama. There are no daily temperature records for Fairhope (station #013160) prior to 1957, yet USHCN2 reports their average raw monthly temperatures back to 1895.
Whatever USHCN is trying to pass off as raw monthly data, is definitely not raw data.
NCEP is forecasting that the high Arctic “summer” is winding down early this year, with freezing temperatures returning to parts of the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas this week.
