The heat in many of the states of America is again abnormally severe, and the sultry weather is having serious effects upon the health of the people. The shade temperature ranges from 105 deg. to 111 deg. Farm work has been largely abandoned. Vegetables are selling at fancy prices, and consequently poor people are living on canned fruit and vegetables, which are obtain- able at cheaper rates.London, July 25.   Telegrams from New York state that owing to the abnormal heat 32 persons died at St. Louis on Tuesday and 40 on Wednesday.   The prospects for the harvest in the western states are seriously affected owing to the heat shriveling up the grain.

The wave of bankruptcies in the solar industry continues unabated – and once again, investors lose a lot of money.

Meanwhile, Germany’s large solar companies have lost almost 25 billion Euros on the stock market.

Yet again another failure of a solar company: the solar system builder Centrotherm has made the application for insolvency on Wednesday. “We are not insolvent,” laboured a spokeswoman for damage control. The share price collapsed by 80 percent to 0.42 Euros.

Sustained high temperatures from this year’s record-breaking heat wave caused an unusual disruption at Washington’s Reagan-National Airport. The Washington Post reports:

“Things were proceeding normally Friday evening as a US Airways flight was leaving the gate at Reagan National Airport to begin its flight to Charleston, S.C.

“But the temperature reached 100 degrees in Washington on Friday and that apparently softened the airport paving enough to immobilize the airplane. The small vehicle that usually tows planes away from the gate tugged and pulled, but the plane was stuck.”

There are 901 USHCN stations which were operating during both 1930 and 2011. Out of those stations, eighty-nine percent set their all time July 14 maximum temperature record with CO2 below 350 ppm.

Thirty-eight percent (347) set their all time July 14 record during the 1930s and eighteen percent (162) set their all-time July 14 record during the 1950s.

Only three stations have set their all time July 14 record during the current decade.

There is no basis for attributing US heat waves to CO2. How can NOAA lie about this?

It is interesting how the same press corps(e) which is unwilling to do any investigation of Obama’s checkered background, has chosen to obsess over some meaningless detail of Mitt Romney’s stellar background.

Venture capital companies earn money by making successful businesses – which create jobs. How many jobs did Obama create as a community organizer?

our resurgent belief in global warming seems to be a function of the weather. A separate Yale survey this spring found that 82 percent of Americans had personally experienced extreme weather or natural disasters in the past year. And 52 percent said they believed the weather had been getting worse overall in recent years, compared to just 22 percent who thought it had gotten better.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents in that March poll went on to say that they believed global warming was affecting the weather in the United States. And that was before the Colorado wildfires and the most recent wave of storms and heat in the Midwest and Northeast, which have brought renewed media attention to climate change. The number might well top 70 percent today.

Fox News says that Obama is a skeptic

Mitt Romney insists that he stepped down from his private equity firm years earlier than federal records indicate, but President Barack Obama is more than a little skeptical and says his Republican rival has much to explain.

A new ad from Obama’s campaign repeated the charges that the firm shipped American jobs to China and Mexico; that Romney has personal wealth in investments in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands; and that as Massachusetts governor, he sent state jobs to India.

“Mitt Romney’s not the solution. He’s the problem,” the ads says as Romney is heard singing “America the Beautiful.”

ScienceDaily (May 29, 2012) — A chance discovery of 80-year-old photo plates in a Danish basement is providing new insight into how Greenland glaciers are melting today.

Researchers at the National Survey and Cadastre of Denmark — that country’s federal agency responsible for surveys and mapping — had been storing the glass plates since explorer Knud Rasmussen’s expedition to the southeast coast of Greenland in the early 1930s.

In this week’s online edition of Nature Geoscience, Ohio State University researchers and colleagues in Denmark describe how they analyzed ice loss in the region by comparing the images on the plates to aerial photographs and satellite images taken from World War II to today.

Taken together, the imagery shows that glaciers in the region were melting even faster in the 1930s than they are today, said Jason Box, associate professor of geography and researcher at the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State. A brief cooling period starting in the mid-20th century allowed new ice to form, and then the melting began to accelerate again in the 2000s.
