No End in Sight for Texas Drought

Good call. The drought is over for 90% of the state.

Gov. Perry, who failed to stop the drought with his prayer proclamation, yesterday dismissed any worries about the Texas drought while speaking at the Iowa State Fair. Perry said, “we’ll be fine. As my dad says, it’ll rain. It always does.“

Texas is having one of their wettest years on record in 2012. Apparently Perry’s father was correct, and Dessler is clueless.

Perry believes that the climate is still normal, unaffected by the 30 billion metric tons of carbon gas human civilization pumps in the biosphere every year, a level expected to increase to 33.8 billion metric tons annually by 2020 and grow to 42.4 billion metric tons annually by 2035.

As opposed to the 970 billion metric tons which nature pumps into the atmosphere every year.

Texas has grown hotter and drier, with stronger wildfires and torrential storms as climate changing greenhouse gases build in the atmosphere. Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, director of the Texas Tech University Climate Science Center, has said

NCDC records show that there is no trend in Texas temperature or precipitation since they started keeping records in 1895. Facts and Katherine are like oil and water.

For many of us, we only have to look in our own backyards to see the evidence with our own eyes. Trees are blooming earlier in the year, winters are getting warmer, summers are getting hotter, extreme heat is becoming more frequent, birds, insects, and other animals are moving northward … in all, more than 25,000 independent lines of physical and biological evidence point to a warming world.

During the previous few cold and snowy winters, these same people insisted that the US is only 7% of the planet, and that anyone who trusted their own eyes was ignorant.

Perhaps the Democratic Blog should stick with stuff they understand better.

During Hansen’s 1999 admission that the US wasn’t experiencing any climate change, he unveiled his earlier magic trick – corrupting the Northern Hemisphere temperature record.

How can the absence of clear climate change in the United States be reconciled with continued reports of record global temperature? Part of the “answer” is that U.S. climate has been following a different course than global climate, at least so far. Figure 1 compares the temperature history in the U.S. and the world for the past 120 years. The U.S. has warmed during the past century, but the warming hardly exceeds year-to-year variability. Indeed, in the U.S. the warmest decade was the 1930s and the warmest year was 1934. Global temperature, in contrast, had passed 1930s values by 1980 and the world has warmed at a remarkable rate over the last 25 years.

Pretty graphs. The only problem is that the National Academy of Sciences issued a very different graph of Northern Hemisphere temperatures in 1975 – which was essentially identical to Hansen’s 1999 US graph.

The two graphs are shown overlaid below. Hansen’s 1999 US graph was closely tracking the rest of the Northern Hemisphere – the exact opposite of what Hansen claimed in 1999.

The next image is an overlay of the National Academy of Sciences 1975 Northern Hemisphere graph on Hansen’s Northern Hemisphere graph. Hansen knocked a few tenths of degree off all years prior to 1940.

Conclusion, at some point prior to 1999 Hansen tampered with the Northern Hemisphere data, and later used that as the basis to justify tampering with the US data.

This was before Hansen tampered with the data set. As of 1997, Hansen’s US temperature graph showed more than 1F cooling during the previous 70 years – yet Holdren predicted 10F warming over the next 50 years.

Speaking at a conference on the changing atmosphere, Prime Minister Brian Mulroney of Canada proposed a global ”law of the air,” and Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland of Norway called for a treaty to stabilize the earth’s atmosphere and prevent further degradation.

The approach is simple, and has been tested over and over again throughout history.

If you can convince a significant segment of the population that there is evil which threatens their existence, you can get them to engage in almost any atrocity.

The particular evil is irrelevant. Hitler convinced many people in Germany that Jews were evil, and threatened their existence. Hansen has convinced many people that CO2 and climate deniers are evil, and threaten their existence. The same story has repeated itself over and over again – Infidels, Muslims, Hindus, witches, blacks, whites, alcohol, Chinese, Japanese, immigrants … etc.

History is full of atrocities committed by imbeciles – who were motivated by irrational fear and believed that they were doing something good.

Satellites have been very naughty during the latter half of their careers. They just can’t find any global warming.
