Global Warming Report Card – May 2012

Over the last few weeks we have learned some frightening facts

  • Polar Bear populations are higher than previously thought, and likely the highest on record
  • Penguin populations are double what was previously thought
  • Global sea ice area is fifth highest on record for the month
  • Alaska has the most sea ice ever recorded
  • No sea level rise at Tuvalu
  • The Obama White House plans to crucify CO2 emitters
  • No warming for at least 15 years
  • Envisat sea level rise rates tripled overnight, and the next week the satellite died
  • Obama shot Osama  for the second year in a row
  • Obama says Romney would have let Osama go
  • Hansen promises multi-metre sea level rise again
  • NASA forecasts yet another large El Nino

This is an election year, and we have the opportunity to replace the insane group of America haters which have taken full control of the US. I suggest we all use our voting rights wisely.

Rough Summer Ahead For Global Warming Alarmists

sst_anom.gif (800×600)

A lot of cold water on both sides of the Arctic, around western Europe, the Atlantic hurricane basin, and the Gulf of Mexico. Jeff Masters recently wrote that Gulf of Mexico SSTs are the highest on record.

This will slow ice melt and reduce hurricane potential. Cloud naming will likely proceed at near record pace however.

Crops Hate This

Plants need warmth, water and CO2 to grow. The increase in all three is what caused us all to starve to death in the 1970s, per Stanford’s Paul Ehrlich.

Joe Romm would demand immediate world communism if this happened today.

Washington Post Gives Obama Another Bye

The EPA is earning a reputation for abuse

By Editorial Board, Published: May 3

MAYBE AL ARMENDARIZ — until Monday, one of the Environmental Protection Agency’s top administrators — didn’t mean his comments to sound quite how they did. But they didn’t sound good. In a 2010 speech, now circulating online, Mr. Armendariz compared his “philosophy of enforcement” to ancient Roman soldiers’ practice of crucifying random victims in recently conquered territory.

The most reasonable interpretation is also among the most disturbing — that Mr. Armendariz preferred to exact harsh punishments on an arbitrary number of firms to scare others into cooperating. This sort of talk isn’t merely unjust and threatening to investors in energy projects. It hurts the EPA. Mr. Armendariz was right to resign this week, while EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson denied that his comments reflected the agency’s approach. Yet the question will remain: Is an aggressive attitude like the one Mr. Armendariz described common among EPA officials?

The EPA is earning a reputation for abuse – The Washington Post

A huge scandal at the White House. Washington Post makes a short editorial, and that will be the last we hear of it. The EPA strategy is being directed from the White House -Obama himself promised to bankrupt coal companies.

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

American democracy is dead, because the press corps(e) is in bed with a White House that plans to wreck the US.

NSIDC Naughtiness Returns

A few weeks ago, I caught NSIDC pulling some mathematical nonsense in their sea ice graphs. A few hours before the Arctic extent line was about to cross the mean line, they changed their plotting scheme to use a five day trailing average for the current ice and a nine day trailing average for the climatology. I pointed out to them that they can’t do that because it puts a two day relative shift in the data – and they fixed it the next day.

Amazingly, they have made a new mistake in their latest Sea Ice News. The graph below shows all recent years far below climatology.

Compare vs. their current extent graph, which shows the blue line brushing up against the gray line last week.

I overlaid the current graph on the Sea Ice News graph, and you can see the error in their climatology (thick grey line.)
