Washington Brings The Debt Under Control By Borrowing Another $2.4 Trillion

That is what they call debt reduction in Washington.

The goal is to convince lenders that we are completely out of control, undisciplined, irresponsible, unable to manage our finances, and that we actually think other countries give a cr@p what happens to US in the future.

OK For CEOs To Talk Trash To Investors

I have learned from Tony Duncan that it is OK for CEOs to make up any facts they want to investors, as long as it isn’t at a meeting of the board. That is just politics!

IPCC 1995 : Most East Coast Beaches Gone By 2020

Scientists Say Earth’s Warming Could Set Off Wide Disruptions
By WILLIAM K. STEVENS
Published: September 18, 1995

The earth has entered a period of climatic change that is likely to cause widespread economic, social and environmental dislocation over the next century if emissions of heat-trapping gases are not reduced, according to experts advising the world’s governments.

At the most likely rate of rise, some experts say, most of the beaches on the East Coast of the United States would be gone in 25 years.

Large Ice Cube Still Missing

Last July, there was a mass hysteria about an ice cube which broke off the Petermann glacier in Greenland. The Manhattan sized ice cube is still missing and apparently has not yet destroyed Newfoundland – as some predicted at the time.

There were even reports that the iceberg could be seen from space! (Meaning that it is at least as large as the license plate on your car.)

How Far Do Polar Bear Cubs Have To Swim In The Hudson Bay?

The Associated Press article “Arctic scientist under investigation” that appeared in the Summit Daily News July 29 deserves some amplification. Whatever the charges against Monnett turn out to be, the danger to polar bears from warming in the Arctic has been substantiated by many peer-reviewed studies since Monnett’s original paper, most recently one published just this month showing that polar bear cub mortality increases as they now need to swim larger distances due to shrinking Arctic sea ice (and that shrinking is not in question: You can measure it from satellite photographs).

The Hudson Bay is ice free for several months every summer, yet the population there is doing just fine. No matter how far they swim, they will not find ice. The Polar Bear sea ice scam ranks right up there with the worst of them.

Forty years ago, old-timers living in the area around Hudson Bay were lucky to see a polar bear, Nirlungayuk says. “Now there are bears living as far south as James Bay.”

Mosquitoes Need Hot Weather

Top MSM scientist Bill McKibben has pointed this out repeatedly, which explains why most of the world’s mosquitoes are located in Siberia and the Arctic

Once upon a time in Cherskii, Siberia, a group of ambitious ecology students attempted to better understand the remote and beautiful landscape they had the privilege to visit. Little did they know, there was a predator here long before they arrived. A predator more formidable than a grizzly and more bloodthirsty than a vampire.

The mosquitoes here are out of this world. In the mere seconds after we got of the airplane, they were upon us in hordes. These buzzers are huge.  Small aircraft in fact. It is rare that you can leave the sanctuary of indoors without the proper protection. Luckily, they are the dumbest insects under the ever-present arctic sun. If someone couldn’t see what we were incessantly slapping, they would take us for a group of motor-impaired delusional spazzes. Our Russian hosts, unbelievably, have made some sort of pact with these winged demons. While we stand around convulsing (in full bug net body armor, mind you), they continue their business without notice, unscathed.

“it is the money”

I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst. When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise. As the old saying goes, you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing. Since I am no philosopher, I’m not going to explore at just which point enlightened self-interest crosses the line into corruption, but a careful reading of the ClimateGate releases makes it clear that this is not an academic question.
