The US is currently experiencing the longest period (seven plus years) on record without a major hurricane. This gets reported as :

Substantial evidence indicates that global warming may be responsible for the recent increasing intensity of Atlantic hurricanes, including increasing their size and contributing to a lengthening hurricane season.

Hurricane Sandy and Climate Change 

We’ve always been at war with Eastasia.

    In 1954, there were two major hurricanes that affected the Northeast, Carol and Hazel. Also Edna, that gave 80-100 mph wind gusts in the Boston area. This season is nothing compared to that.

    Then in 1955, three hurricanes hit North Carolina. They were Connie, Diane and Ione. Connie and Diane hit only a few days apart and caused catastrophic flooding in the Northeast.

    “Global Warming may be the cause” – That alone shows their uncertainty. Instead of saying it IS the cause, or it is NOT the cause, they use weasel words.
