2014 US Climate Report

Driving to work on Thursday, I heard NCDC announce that 2014 was hotter than normal in the US for the 18th consecutive year, and that it was an extreme climate year.

This is nonsense. Before data tampering, the US was below normal, as were four of the last seven years.

ScreenHunter_5902 Jan. 10 06.06

In order to create their fake US temperature graph, they massively alter the data

ScreenHunter_5802 Jan. 05 11.57

Including completely fabricating 30% of the monthly data, which they say is missing.

ScreenHunter_5803 Jan. 05 12.00

The net result of their tampering is to create a warming trend which does not exist in the data – as seen in the animation below.

USHCNTampering2014

More than two thirds of the states were below normal temperature. West Virginia was 2C below normal.

The ratio of record lows to record highs was the highest since the volcano cooled year of 1993, and one of the highest on record.

ScreenHunter_5908 Jan. 10 06.40

The percentage of days over 100 degrees was one of the smallest on record.

ScreenHunter_5903 Jan. 10 06.09

The number of tornadoes was the lowest on record.

torgraph-bigtorgraph-big.png (1130×700)

It has been ten years since the last major (category 3-5) hurricane strike in the US. The longest such period on record.

The US was wetter than normal in 2014, with droughts diminishing over the past 80 years.

Forest fire burn acreage was well below normal

Bottom line is NCDC is producing climate propaganda, not science. They have wildly misrepresented the 2014 US climate, as well as the trend.

And 2015 is also getting off to a spectacularly cold start.

  1. I wonder if they started to include weather stations on Venus to bring up the average. Earth is only 12% of the solar system.

    • nielszoo says:

So that’s where those spikes in CO2 and intermittent reports of lead, tin and zinc puddles and lakes with the occasional bouts of aluminum slush during the heat wave of 2014 came from.</sarc>

  2. Marsh says:

Spectacularly Cold start , yes and the whole Nth Hemisphere is headed for extreme low temp’s in the second half of January… more blizzards & more Polar Ice than last year as evidence. There has to come a time when their AGW game is over ; all that contrary evidence is growing
despite the predictions & propaganda; the only thing increasing with CO2 is the Snow & Ice !

    • Gail Combs says:

That is why we have the Troll Chris Barron polluting the Green Energy is Dead thread. As CAGW dies they will just morph the cause into Ocean Acidification, Resources Running Out or whatever other excuses they can come up with.

“We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” – ex-senator Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

What does the founder of the UN Foundation say?

“A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.” – Ted Turner, founder of CNN and founder of the UN Foundation

Where did Agenda 21 come from? Shell Oil VP Ged Davis as IPCC leader author on Scenarios

      • BobW in NC says:

Re: ex-senator Timothy Wirth—How abysmally ignorant of (blind to…?) science can anyone be? I’m routinely shocked, stunned and dismayed by some of the declarations made by the CAGW supporters. And then, as if that were not enough, the cancer of the Precautionary Principle has fully infiltrated their thinking to a Stage 4 level (terminal), as graphically illustrated by his statement. So—agenda and ideology comes before truth, determining what is really real.

        Horrible.

As to Mister Turner, is he volunteering to be in the forefront of his proposed movement? Oh, what’s that? No, I didn’t think so…

    • You may want to look at the forecast for the second half of January again. We’re looking for way above average temps for USA….

        • rah says:

I’ll go with Joe over any government agency having to do with the weather any time.

        • Gail Combs says:

After I caught them red handed making the snow storm in my area of mid North Carolina into a rain storm. After I caught them taking a temperature that was low enough to create two inches of ice on my stock tanks in 24 hours into ‘above freezing’ for the same 24 hrs; I wouldn’t trust the US government to tell me what the color of the sky is.

By the way I can walk to that new state of the art weather station that has to be adjusted two to four degrees hotter the next day by NOAA.

At this point the USA government and their paid whores scientists have ZERO credibility.

        • Jason Calley says:

Gail, thank you for striking through that one word and replacing it with “scientists.” It would not be fair to that particular profession to equate them with our governmental “climate scientists.”

Members of the oldest profession, while perhaps not quite honorable, are at least honest and supply a desired product at a market price.

  3. SMS says:

If the agencies were to properly account for UHI, then todays temperatures would be less than the 1930’s. But they don’t. And the hoax goes on.

  4. Ron C. says:

Now that UAH is complete for 2014, we can see that last year the anomaly for the USA48 came in at a cool -0.183 C., the coldest since 1996 and 1995. The only other colder years are 1993 and several in the 1980s.

  5. Don says:

They’ll morph into man-made global cooling, with nearly everything else the same, some fine tuning included. They are addicted to government money, and thus cannot give up. A few will defect, who will be roundly attacked. Until governments stop funding their fraudulent ‘science’, they will not give up. Otherwise they are back to some tiny cobwebbed corner in a basement somewhere.

    • Gail Combs says:

Chis the Windpower Barron is trying out the Peak Oil crap to see if he can get it to fly here.

      https://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2015/01/04/green-energy-is-dead/

He really must be desperate to keep coming back for more of Gator and Daavd’s rump kicking.

    • nielszoo says:

Gail, like all the green energy acolytes he’s meandering and obfuscating ’cause all his holy grails are failing and coal is winning on every single metric. (Hero’s steam engine, a small generator and a pile of wood would beat wind.) Where’s TonyFromOz when we need him. If I remember his research correctly, wind ended up at about 14% of nameplate… and it still requires reliable, dispatchable generation to be on the grid and turning when the wind lulls.

      • Gail Combs says:

        Niel,
Gator and I are having a bit fun with The Wind Barron…

Trolls are not the only one that can do a bit of twisting of the subject. My last question to Gator was, since the Greenies know Green energy is killing people in the UK, is that accessory to Manslaughter, Murder I or Murder II.

Unfortunately it really should be a serious question if there was Rule of Law. The number killed in the UK alone, makes the Twin towers and Islamic Terrorism look small potatoes. More Democide – Death by Government.

        Feel free to jump in.

  6. Tel says:

All that frozen water is a clear sign of a hotter than normal year. I wonder how many people still believe in this? There would have to be a few doubts creeping in.

    • Gail Combs says:

Depends on how badly they have been brainwashed. The followers of Marxism have a very twisted logic. It is why you can never reason with them. They do not believe reality exists. They only believe what is in their head. I kid you not!

The Philosophy Of Karl Marx – The Hegelian Basis

…. According to this philosophy, “the only immutable thing is the abstraction of movement.” The one universal phenomenon is change, and the only universal form of this phenomenon is its complete abstraction. Thus, Hegel accepted as real only that which existed in the mind. Objective phenomena and events were of no consequence;….

To Marx the thing the mind perceived was realty in itself….. The thesis and antithesis became to Marx actual opposing forces existing in the universe, with synthesis the resulting objective phenomenon that, becoming in its turn thesis or antithesis…

The Marxian dialectic is a universal explanation in two senses. First, it constitutes a philosophical explanation of all categories of realistic phenomena. It could be applied to physical, chemical, astronomical, mathematical, geological, and all other phenomena as a universal explanation of what exists and is occurring in the universe…..

….within the scope of social institutions and processes, Marx contended that one species of phenomena had incomparably greater creative potentalities than any other. These were the economic phenomena, or, to use a Marxian term, the mode of production. According to Marx it was within this economic realm that the basic theses, antitheses, and syntheses existed, and all social institutions were the offshoots of economic forces.

This is why ClimAstrologists place such emphasis on a ‘Consensus’ or ‘Synthesis’ This is why they insist “The debate is over, time to move onto implementation.” and this is why we have calls for ‘Climate Justice’

You can see the thinking from an ‘economic point of view’ with former WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy, a French Socialist.

….In the same way, climate change negotiations are not just about the global environment but global economics as well — the way that technology, costs and growth are to be distributed and shared. Can we maintain an open trading system without a more coordinated financial system?

Can we balance the need for a sustainable planet with the need to provide billions with decent living standards? Can we do that without questioning radically the Western way of life? These may be complex questions, but they demand answers.

At the same time, globalization is blurring the line between national and world issues, redefining our notions of space, sovereignty and identity. As we saw during the recent financial crisis, economic turbulence in one country now sends shockwaves worldwide.

And finance is not the only area where domestic issues are turning into global concerns. Countries claim the right to use national resources as they see fit. But the byproduct can be greenhouse gases or disappearing fish stocks or raw material shortages — which impact the interconnected world we share……

  8. Tom Moran says:

…for the color-coded map of the continental United States that shows above average cooling for the country, here are links to a paper that show how temperatures in the mountain states (that appear as above average temps in your maps)have been overestimated by 200 to 500% . “Moreover, longer-term widely used gridded climate products propagate the spurious temperature trend, thereby amplifying 1981–2012 western U.S. elevation-dependent warming by +217 to +562%. In the context of a warming climate, this artificial amplification of mountain climate trends has likely compromised our ability to accurately attribute climate change impacts across the mountainous western U.S.” Is it possible that the hot spot has really just been limited to Pacific Coast, FL and ME?
