A few years ago, experts told us that Penguins were doomed because of disappearing summer sea ice.
Antarctic summer sea ice is at a record high, and extends about 1,000 km further than it did in January 1993 -shown as green below.
The amount of ice has increased by 76% since the same date in 1993.
Experts call this a meltdown.
That’s also why we didn’t hear of another “Ship Of Fools” like last year. Commonwealth Bay is
not only choked with sea ice ; it extends beyond the horizon,,, even the best Ice Breakers would not be able to take that on !! No doubt, the Penguins have had to relocate with the Ice floe over time ; unlike the Ship Of Fools… the Penguin’s don’t believe in Global Warming…

And Antarctica was much warmer back 40 million years ago, the entire planet was much, much warmer, no Ice Ages at all.
Oh, My Goodness!!! The cold cycle shrank the penguins! I thought it was the hot cycle that shrank things….
If less ice was causing a reduction in penguin populations, then using this convoluted logic population numbers should be sky high. If this is not the case, then there is no relationship between ice extent and penguin populations.
In other words, it was a crap argument by the leftists to confuse the population that currently gets it’s voting direction from Sean Penn and Oprah Winfrey. We’ve seen these crap arguments so many times you’d think even Sean Penn and Oprah Winfrey could wise up and figure out they were being had.
They seem to be more worried about the few small red areas on the map and ignoring everything else.
It is very simple. All the ice at Antarctica is slipping down to the sea because of some warming, and now it fills the sea with ice. 🙂

Just what I was going to say. We will be told the sad stories of penguins dying because they had to go an extra 1000km because of more ice because of climate change.
Don’t go with ’93, give their favorite year ’98; it’s just as compelling.
As typical liberals are wont to do, they are projecting. The meltdown isn’t about the ice.
just think of this: it is not logical for an animal to nest that far away from its feedinggrounds! obviously penguins lived closer to the sea (i.e. the sea was closer to their nestinggrounds!) in ancient times when evolution produced them. (it was certainly during a warm phase of earth’s climate!) As it became cold they just remained in their habitats and adjusted to the climatechange by walking further and further to their food! foolish ,but after all they are just birds without real wings…
“Penguins are more than just birds without wings.” They evolved to be the very best birds at swimming ; with all their food resources under water ; it makes sense. The Emperor Penguins nest out on the sea ice anyway and the Adelie Penguins are said to be very adaptable… a gradual Ice increase , is not a serious problem for Penguins…
It would be interesting to see an AGW – Warmist’s take on the situation ; of course the greatest threat to their extinction is more Ice .
