I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he probably voted for Obama at least once.

    • Ben Vorlich says:

Are we sure that’s not a deliberately humourous comment. It’s very like the British sense of humour with the bonus of poking a bit of fun at the Aussies.

  2. Bernal says:

Um…wouldn’t that be more of a East West sort of thing rather than North South.

  3. Bernal says:

North South in that they’re playing tennis instead of ice fishing I guess. Boy I hope Mosher doesn’t see this. He’ll lay an algorithm upside your head.

  4. Mike says:

‘I don’t care WHAT you say! You’re WRONG!’

  5. Byron says:

For pity’s sake , don’t tell Jeff Coot that Australia shares time zones with China , Japan and part of Russia , His brain will implode .

  6. Don Penim says:

Here is the story from Sydney, Australia about the match that finished after 3AM local time:

…Angelique Kerber claimed a remarkable comeback victory over wildcard Daria Gavrilova in a match finishing deep into the early hours of the morning at the Apia International.

… Kerber’s triumph – in a match that finished after 3AM local time…set up a quarter-final match against Garbine Muguruza

Any weather station that doesn’t Warm is REMOVED LOL

“Mr Trewin also noted that the Bureau had recently changed its Melbourne monitoring site from the Royal Society of Victoria on La Trobe Street in the city to Olympic Park, near Rod Laver Arena. Maximum temperatures recorded at the new site were on average 1.2 degrees cooler, particularly on cool days, because air coming from the south and west was travelling over parklands rather than the through the city.” http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/melbourne-weather-summer-2015-still-hot-just-last-year-was-hotter-20150119-12tbhi.html

Starting making too many colder readings, so better move it to a warmer part of Melbourne surrounded by several concrete stadiums

Don’t any of you realize it’s because clocks spin the other way in the Southern Hemisphere??

Interestingly the animation will copy to an email and work

    Jeff proving the old saying:
It’s better to say nothing and let others suspect you’re a fool than say something that removes all doubt.
Of course he could be “taking the piss.”

  13. B.C. says:

The Aussies play tennis at 3 a.m. so that they don’t disrupt the Emperor penguin/elephant seal/Wildebeest co-migration between Antarctica and Greenland. Every climatologist worth his salt knows that!

  14. Anything is possible says:

I appreciate that you already have more than enough idiots to deal with on Twitter Steve, but here’s a new account just begging for your attention :

They have games organised to fill up the TV time slot until 11pm. A few 5 setters and it gets pushed to well after midnight.

  16. WJohn says:

The magic of the vacuum flask.
The great sportsman’s wife was watching her husband take a new vacuum flask and first of all half fill it with ice cream and then top it up with hot soup.
“What are you doing, dearest?” she asked him.
“Well,” he explained “last week, on a hot day, in the locker room my team-mate took out one of these and proceeded to eat ice cream from it.
Then this week on a cold day he did the same thing but this time he took hot soup from the same container!”
‘What is that thing?’ I asked him.”
“He told me that it is called a ‘vacuum flask’, and it keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot. So I got the team gopher to get me one.
So today before the game I will enjoy hot soup to warm me up and then after the game some nice ice-cream to cool me down.
And you thought that I was stupid, darling”

  17. Jimmy Haigh says:

I’m sure he meant to say eastern hemisphere…

  18. anthonyvioli says:

A few years back Hewitt played Marcos Bagdahtis and it didn’t begin until 10.30pm due to a long womens match at 7.30pm.

It was a 5 set marathon that finished at 4.30am which was madness but thats what happened. And some fans even stayed till the end despite needing to go to work that morning.

What the time up there in the NH btw?

    LMAO.

Paul Keating and Hawkin’s destroyed Science education in Australia in the 80’s… This is the result

    Australians need help!

  21. Eliza says:

Maybe Australians should just stick to selling real estate and holidays.(although would not recommend later as you can’t do anything there. Everything is illegal, even a barbeque in your own garden (smoke bothers neighbours, its illegal)

    • Gail Combs says:

      WHAT NO Barbeque?

When the summer sun is shining on Australia’s happy land
Round countless fires, in strange attire in many solemn bands
Of glum Australians watching as the lunch goes up in flames
By the smoke and the smell you can plainly tell, that it’s barby time again

When the steaks are burning fiercely, when the smoke gets in your eyes
When the snacks all taste like fried toothpaste and your mouth is full of flies
It’s a national institution, it’s Australian through and through
So come on mate and grab your plate, let’s have a barbeque!

The Scots eat lots of haggis, the French eat snails and frogs
The Greeks throw kakis on their mousakis, and the Chinese love hot dogs
The Welshmen love to have a leek, the Irish like thier stew
But you just can’t beat that half-cooked meat at an Aussie barbeque….

      • rah says:

If I ever get to Australia, it won’t be the steak I’m after. I do as well, if not better than Ruth Cris on my own grill out on the deck. Besides, a nice summer day, Jack & Coke in one hand, cooking utensil in the other as I work what ever is on the grill is my idea of therapy. Shrimp and lobster on the barbie and what ever other sea food would tickle my fancy would be my fare if I went there. I’m sure I would be well over the recommended limit on mercury.

        • Gail Combs says:

I developed a great recipe for Bluefish (smothered in onions and mushrooms with a herbal wine marinade) but we can not get Bluefish here in the South – BUMMER.

The recipe just doesn’t work with any other fish. I have tried it with salmon, trout and catfish and it completely drowns out the flavor of white fish.

Bluefish and decent lobster is the only thing I miss about living up north. OH, and Ants Climb the Tree at Chopsticks in Leominster MA

It is right off the four lane (route 2) so you might want to try it if you are ever in that neck of the woods. It is considered one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Boston area.

        • rah says:

Funny you should mention Leominster. I was stationed at Ft. Devens, MA for 5 1/2 years so I know the area very well. And, what is really weird is that I just got my warning order for my next load. I depart Anderson, IN at 09:00 bound for the Ball Metal Container plant in Findlay, OH. There I drop the empty trailer and pick up a trailer loaded with new soda cans (or possibly lids) bound for the Pepsi plant in Ayre, MA! Will take my 10 hour break along I-90 in NY near Oneida and then proceed to Ayre to deliver Monday Afternoon. Guess I will get to see for myself if Weatherbell’s forecast is correct.

Quite a change since just last Thursday I was in Laredo, TX with the windows down in the truck enjoying the warm weather there.

        • rah says:

BTW Gail. Have you ever had Monk fish? Properly prepared, it’s very much like lobster and in fact if I had to pick between the two I would take the Monk fish. A fish people think of as ugly in life that is just outstanding on the table.

  22. Sparks says:

There are 5 timezones in Australia. 😀
