Just think how much her parents have paid, and yet still not graduated to adulthood.

  2. Ah, if it were only that simple!

  5. EternalOptimist says:

OT Steve, but I just learned that 2015 is a leap-second year.
I reckon if it had been last year, 2014 would not have been ‘the hottest year evah’
by one ten thousandth of a degree.

In fact I reckon leap years probably account for all the global warming anomolies

  6. SxyxS says:

You should have asked her to share her parents home with all the homeless-wonder what she would say than?

Just like a family home,a country can financially run a certain welfare budget before she blget broke
and someone should ask why liberal Barack O hasn’t cut military spending 50% and gave half of the saved money to the poor instead building more and more military bases around the world(almost 1000 right now)

  7. John B., M.D. says:

Somehow the liberals find a way to spin a rebuttal to “The $50 Lesson.”
    http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/08/14/republican-facebook-meme-debunked-the-50-lesson/
Their proposed solutions completely miss the point of the parable.

    • gator69 says:

      Their basic premise is false.

“For starters, no one is homeless by choice.”,

Utter nonsense. I have friends with homeless family members, and each of the homeless made a choice to drop out of society. Years ago I attended a discussion on homelessness, conducted by a former homeless man. He related that he never had it easier than when he had no home. He enjoyed all the infrastructure the rest of us pay for, parks to go fishing, safe streets on which to travel, etc. .Free food, free shelter, free entertainment, free medical care, and of course most of all, free time.

As usual, the left has no counter argument.

      • Ben Vorlich says:

I was listening to BBC Radio the other day, a programme about Silicon. I hadn’t realised that the Hippies who dropped out in California went into the hills to grow herbs were the first to start using solar panels for domestic power. They like their children of today don’t really want to return to the stone age.

      • Tel says:

Even if the guy is homeless and intending to stay that way, $50 can still come in handy.

Trouble is, if you employ the homeless guy to do odd jobs you can get busted over a whole bunch of employment regulations, safety regulations, insurance, and often local city ordinance too. Then if the union hevies find out they will have their hands out for some standover money on the top.

        • KTM says:

Elizabeth Smart’s dad picked up an itinerant man to do odd-jobs around the house. The man then abducted his 14 year old daughter, indoctrinated her to believe he was a Prophet of God, and groomed her to become his second wife.

      • Yup. I’ve been fairly good friends with a few homeless guys. All of them were that way by choice. Some of them had owned houses, & either had just stopped paying bills, or had just walked away from the house when it got to be too much of a hassle (for them).

Sure, they want a warm place to sleep, but they don’t want the responsibilities that entails, like doing dishes, or not letting trash pile up in every room until you can’t walk around any more.

One of the guys even had a little tarp covered shack out in a little-known corner of one of the big parks in town that he lived in. When the shack would get too full of trash, he’d just abandon it & set up another one a ways away. That’s how they live, because that’s how they want to live.

      They show a handicapped man.

      He could have been employed.

The company I worked for along with Sweetheart Plastics and McDonald’s were planning to build a factory in Taxachusetts to recycle the post consumer styrene produced by McDonalds. My old boss was the lead Chem Engineer and they had worked out a design that would not only recycle the waste plastic but would also allow the employment of the handicapped as workers.

Unfortunately the owner of the company had stomped on the toes of not only BP but also Shell Oil. Since Shell has a lot of connections to WWF they managed to time a nationwide blitz of hysteria “STRENE IS EVIL!” the week before the TV ads announcing the new plant aired. McDonalds got cold feet, pulled out and switched to paper. The company I worked for almost went bankrupt and had to close several plants as did Sweetheart Plastics.

      Ain’t the Liberals wonderful?

      • gator69 says:

Our county recycling program employs handicapped individuals, and has been a large success. I have seen everyone from churches to Walmart provide for the truly needy.

    • Gail Combs says:

The liberals wanted a homeless class so they MADE a homeless class. It was Kennedy that saw the Mental hospitals closed and the inmates turned out. First to 1/2 way houses and then with no support.

Liberals also made it very very hard to have someone placed in an institution.

Vagrancy laws were common when I was a kid. The person was assessed and if truly homeless moved to a hospital or to the county farm. Some of course ended in jail but no one was left on the streets to freeze to death.

Funny, back then you could leave the door unlocked and kids could walk a mile or two to school or the park. Kids could go trick or treating from house to house on Halloween…

    • MrX says:

Liberals are more concerned that they FEEL they are helping than the actual well being of the individual. So yeah, they completely miss the point exactly because they are liberals.

      • gator69 says:

This is the main difference between leftists, and us. Leftists use emotion and theory as their guides, while we use logic and observation. This perfectly explains why leftists believe in models over nature, and theory over fact.

        • Gail Combs says:

And then turn around and claim THEY are scientific, while we are unthinking, gun toting, bible thumping, red neck Neanderthals.

Many years ago I ran into an article that showed the portrayal of American farmers in the MSM as thickheaded ignorant rednecks after WWII was a deliberate move to marginalize the voice of rural America. Of course Johnson’s 501c3 tax code law was all about silencing US churches and eliminate the significant influence the church had always had on shaping “public policy.”

    • Sharpshooter says:

They are what Ayn Rand called “concrete bound”. She was referring to conceptual thought, but i I think it must have be the cement between their ears.

  8. SMS says:

Life is choices. Where we are in life and where we are going is a matter of the choices we make. Occasionally we may be thrown a curve ball, but it is our choice how we cope with these downturns in our lives. And I realize that there are exceptions, but for the bulk of the homeless that we see each day; this statement is true.

Report: Al Sharpton’s Viagra Prescription Found In Accused Rapist’s Home

Prominent New York City lawyer Sandy Rubenstein was officially cleared of rape following a police investigation released Monday. But one bizarre item emerged during the investigation: Al Sharpton’s Viagra prescription…

    and it gets better!

Sharpton: The NY Post Shouldn’t Attack Me… They Give Me Money!

Al Sharpton says the New York Post should not have accused him of shaking down businesses because he also shakes down the paper’s corporate owner.

“Shake Down Al'”screamed the Post’s Sunday front page. “How Rev gets paid not to cry ‘racism'”

The story ripped Sharpton for going easy on companies who donate to his national Action Network.

But in an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller, Sharpton’s central defense was that News Corp — the company that owns the New York Post — also fills his coffers….

    OH my….

    lol classic

  12. Pathway says:

Have you noticed that in the worst economy since the FDR depression that there is never a story about the homeless and when we were in one of the greatest economies under Regan that the media had one story after another about the millions of homeless.

    • Gail Combs says:

I wonder how many homeless have frozen to death this week.

There was a big scandal in Fitchburg MA in the 1990s. We had a major blizzard coming and some church folk set up a dorm with donated stuff in a vacant warehouse a member had. The Mass. dept of health came down on them like a ton of bricks for violating code (not enough bathrooms, not marked men women….) So the homeless were turned out of the warm place to sleep and froze to death.

Ain’t government regs great? They keep us so safe.
