The latest global warming conspiracy theory of ‘fiddling with the data’ is nonsense
Temperatures are being massively fiddled with, and turn cooling into warming. The Guardian is lying.
It shouldn’t need to be said, but the Earth really is warming. Air and ocean temperatures are rising fast, ice is melting across the planet, ecosystems are shifting, sea levels are rising, and so on.
Satellites show little or no warming, global sea ice is normal, sea levels have been rising for 20,000 years – and Greenland has gained a near record amount of ice mass this autumn. The Guardian is lying.

The latest zombie climate myth to rise from the dead involves the oldest form of global warming denial. It’s a conspiracy theory that the Earth isn’t really warming; rather, fraudulent climate scientists are “fiddling” with the data to introduce a false warming trend.
That is exactly what they are doing. The Guardian is lying.
In The Telegraph, which is a mostly serious UK newspaper, Christopher Booker calls scientists’ adjustments to temperature data “the biggest science scandal ever.” These accusations have echoed through conservative media and online blogs, even being aired on Fox News (three times).
Booker is correct. The Guardian is lying.
In reality climate scientists process the raw temperature data for very good reasons. Sometimes temperature monitoring station locations move. Sometimes the time of day at which they’re read changes. Sometimes changes are made to the instruments themselves. In each case, if adjustments aren’t made, then biases will be included in the data that don’t reflect actual changes in temperatures.
The fact that they can provide theoretical justifications for the general concept of data tampering, tells us absolutely nothing about the correctness of what they are actually doing. The actual adjustments could be 100% fraudulent. Governments generate fake data all the time. People write incorrect software all the time. The adjustments should be cooling the present due to UHI, and reducing the trend – not increasing it.
Richard Muller at UC Berkeley was skeptical that climate scientists were doing all these adjustments correctly, so he assembled the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) team to check the data for themselves. The biggest initial financial contribution to the project came from the Koch brothers.
Muller is skeptical of nothing. He has always been a flaming alarmist who wanted to prove the hockey stick was real.

Let me be clear. My own reading of the literature and study of paleoclimate suggests strongly that carbon dioxide from burning of fossil fuels will prove to be the greatest pollutant of human history. It is likely to have severe and detrimental effects on global climate. I would love to believe that the results of Mann et al. are correct, and that the last few years have been the warmest in a millennium.

As Muller discusses in the video below, his team confirmed that the Earth’s surface temperatures are warming. In fact, BEST finds that NASA, NOAA, and the UK Met Office have slightly underestimated the warming over the past 15 years.
Utter bullshit. There has been no warming for the past 15 years over land, but Best shows a huge amount of warming. The Guardian is lying.
As always, no one will make any attempt to debate me on this issue. They will just launch more personal attacks like they always do. They know that they would lose an honest debate.
Lying about their lies, it’s what leftists do. And most scientists are on the left so it fits the mold perfectly.
I predict you and others exposing this will be called liars by the liars for exposing their lies once again, which will make them liars for the third time on this subject.

Personal attacks is what you get when you are right about the science. In a way, they are actually confirming your findings, but they are too stupid to get that.

When ‘adjustments’ cancel out the heat of the 1930’s and 1940’s, they are no longer ‘adjustments’, they are acts of fraud.
When ‘adjustments’ do not counter UHI, but instead spread it across rural areas, they are no longer ‘adjustments’, they are acts of fraud.

I am all for giving people the benefit of a doubt, but when a consistent and long term pattern of self-serving misdeeds is evident, any unbiased person must at least consider that fraud is being committed.
I am guessing that Gavin and GISS have never publicly shared the code that they use to make their ‘adjustments’ to the temperature record. I am also guessing that if that code ever became public, that a careful analysis would prove just how fraudulent their adjustments are.
What possible valid scientific reason could there be for surgically adjusting down temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s and not so much those immediately before, or just after? (crickets either freeze or chirp)
One of the comments on the guardian article was “Another reason the accussations (sic) by the deniers fall apart if that none of the national meteorological organisatyions (sic) comer (sic) out and complain that their data has been tampered with, that their analysis of their own data shows otherwise etc.” . But I seem to recall that there was at least one if not two cases where national meteorological organizations did actually complain.
Oh yes they did complain. Iceland did (See Paul Homewood – link )
And so did Russia at the time of Climategate e-mails in 2009.

Speaking of the groiniad one commenter at Delingpole’s Green scientists caught tampering with the historical record. Again article had this to say:

If you follow his link to the source and read the text, you will find that the Surface Mass Balance does not tell the whole story, it only accounts for the difference between precipitation and surface melt. They go on to say :
“Over the year, it snows more than it melts, but calving of icebergs also adds to the total mass budget of the ice sheet. Satellite observations over the last decade show that the ice sheet is not in balance. The calving loss is greater than the gain from surface mass balance, and Greenland is losing mass at about 200 Gt/yr.”
Got that? Greenland is not gaining mass, it is losing 200Gt/year

At the rate they produce lies, that means we are going backwards at an alarming rate.
If the majority climate scientists are right and we do nothing about it, we have a pretty huge catastrophe on our hands.
If we do something about it and the climate predictions are wrong, we will have encouraged new industries to grow to produce clean and renewable energy, clean air, and generally make the world a better place, all for nothing.
That is a conspiracy I’m happy to live with.
