Really? Did they really say that?

      http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/02/16/warm-winter/23510107/

The U.S. is having its sixth-warmest winter on record, according to data from the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), which has records back to 1895.

For the first two weeks of February, while chilly weather enveloped the northeastern U.S. and record snow buried New England, practically the entire western half of the nation was seeing phenomenal, record warmth.

How warm? So far this month, there have been 4,074 records set for warm temperatures —- mostly in the West — and only 236 records for cold temperatures, the NCDC reported.

So the theory is that Western temperatures more than compensated for the frozen lakes. Once again I point out, there’s no such thing as a family with 2.3 kids and there are no people who live in a national average climate, nor a global climate for that matter. Everyone lives somewhere local.

      • emsnews says:

And the west was NOT 16-20 degrees warmer than usual!!!!

This is where the lies lie down with the lions. They are LYING. This is impossible to overwhelm the record cold of 60% of North America (and 80% of Canada as well as US).

      • Andy DC says:

It is true that the first half of February was extremely warm, 10-20F above normal along the front range of Colorado and Wyoming and east into the western Great Plains states. But since then, there has been a huge temperature reversal in that area. Along the front range the anomalies have been pared all the way back to a matter of +1 to 4 degrees in most places, hardly anything out of the ordinary.

The Great Plains states (ND to TX), except for the western edges have now gone solidly negative. -10F or greater anomalies are widespread from central Iowa all the way to the east coast and also down into the Upper South. For the eastern 2/3 of the nation, it has been a very cold February.

        • Tel says:

Yeah, US winter had a late start this year… needed to take a run up.

Is there a deeper meaning to it? I don’t think so.

        • emsnews says:

It has been 20 degrees below normal for 70% of North America (like most of CANADA) this winter. There is no way the short warm period out west overwhelms this fact. They depend on never mentioning Canada to keep the Global Warming BS rolling.

      • Gail Combs says:

        GEE,
Lies are getting even bigger and bigger. Nothing like picking really big cherries.

Over 2000 records broken in the last week and many by as much as 30 degrees!

While Wunderground reports temperatures at the lowest in the 40s for Cuba…. (for Union de Reyes Wunderground flips you to the Havana Airport.)

Record low temperature in Cuba for February
          http://classic.wunderground.com/history/airport/MUHA/2015/2/15/MonthlyHistory.html
          Published on February 23, 2015

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) — The Cuban Institute of Meteorology reported that early Friday morning it registered a temperature of one degree Celsius (33.8oF) in the town of Union Reyes, in western Matanzas province, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Cuba for the month of February.

This temperature was due to the strong influence of a very dry mass of cold air of arctic origin, in combination with low clouds in the interior of the western and central regions, which favoured heat radiation at night and caused again another remarkably cold dawn in parts of the interior of much of the country

There were several areas with less than 10 degrees Celsius (50oF) in Cuba’s western provinces. In the rest of the country the minimum temperatures were between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius, higher in coastal areas.

The previous record in Union de Reyes was set on February 18, 1996, at 2.5 degrees. The absolute record in the town for any month of the year was also one degree, and happened on January 21, 1971.

      • Yep… same bullshit as last year…

March 2014 was hottest ever… then April, then May…. thru September … bs about ‘hottest summer ever’ despite the cold… these people have amazing nerve… flat out lies..

2 brutally cold winters in a row and the Progressives would have us believe… no force us to believe its been hot… total Hubris… totally 1984….

    • Dave N says:

They’re comparing with winters that have been adjusted way down. One has to wonder how deep the ice is covering the north eastern states before they’ll admit that their data is fubar’d. A mile? 2 miles?

  2. nielszoo says:

Ummm, are we sure they’re talking about Earth? Did some data mix up at NASA feed them readings from Titan or Europa? Did somebody confuse a round of SimCity on their Gameboy with real temperatures? Are they finally fabricating 100% of the stations in the system? Did Inhofe throw the last snowball in the country?

    Just… damn.

  3. rah says:

Oh, but they say it’s warmer than normal in Siberia.

  4. emsnews says:

Yes, every year is the Hottest Year EVAH to eternity no matter how cold it gets. Somewhere there is a thermometer that is above freezing on the equator so…it will always be hot.

When glaciers cover all of Canada, it will be hottest evah because…no thermometers will survive glaciation. See? 🙂

  5. tgmccoy says:

Hmm maybe because they only use data from California and the Pacific NW and “adjust”…

  6. Dave says:

Obviously completely phony. Its getting more like 1984 all the time. How long will the public believe what contradicts their own experience?

    • Gail Combs says:

I just got back from doing a party and asked people how they liked the warmist winter Evah! as we stood around and froze in the wind. All I got was nothing but snorts and Theysss tellin’lies!

  7. emsnews says:

Well, Steven has proven they have already eliminated over 50% of all thermometers so yes, this is doctored data and it is then faked further via computer programs to always show warming.

Insane, stupid, futile and ridiculous because even dimwits are slowly figuring out they are freezing, not roasting to death.

  8. David M says:

Spain – The snow has no end
Switzerland – Winter returns with a vengeanc
France – Snow and avalanches in the Pyrenees At least 124 people killed in Afghan snowstorm

Several highways in NE China closed due to heavy snow

why do they always say what is happening here in the US….isn’t global warming suppose to be global?

  9. gator69 says:

Sixth warmest on record? Even if this were true, who cares?

When was the last time you celebrated, or even noted sixth place?

    The Indy 500?

    Miss America?

    The National Spelling Bee?

    OK, maybe Cubs fans.

  10. Don says:

So the heat hides in the ice & snow. Who knew? Is that there new meme?

Their most famous member is Doctor Data, and his homogenization machine.

  11. Taphonomic says:

Forecasts for there to be snow in all 50 states in the next week:

    http://www.drroyspencer.com/2015/02/snow-for-all-50-states-forecast-in-next-7-days/

  12. emsnews says:

Yup, everyone has freezing weather now even the San Gabriel mountains next to hot LA has snow and is very cold now.

Gads, those newcomers in California piss me off. My grandaddy used to tell me stories about snow storms in the 19th century in those mountains.

  13. inMAGICn says:

Way back, one day in Santa Barbara, you could comfortably dive in the am, then run up into the Santa Ynez and get in some ice-skating and cross-country skiing. Guess where the temperature was taken? The airport, and that was just above sea-level.
I do not believe for a moment you can get “California Temperature” let along “Global Temperature.”

  14. David G. says:

Clearly the hype is baloney, but I just came from Yellowstone where a very odd winter is dogging residents and visitors there. It has been warm, numerous days above 50 but it’s been as cold as ever also. Getting to at least 45 below. It was -16 2 days ago and it will be at least that cold tonight but yesterday it was 37 for a few minutes! They have had their usual 160 inches of snow but it has melted and refrozen numerous timex. On the mountaintops they have had near 500 inches but mot much is left. I went over the divide on a snowmobile and it was still crisp and enough snow for beauty and fun.

  15. Ozarkette says:

Huh? Also my worst heating bills. Numbers never lie nor does the electric bill.

  16. Ted ciolli says:

My electric bills much higher two reasons: Very Cold, higher electric rates due to legislated requirement for alternate energy, such as wind and solar purchased by the utilities at RETAIL rates.
