Satellites have much better coverage, and show that this past winter was only sixth warmest, nowhere near as warm as 1998, and on a decade long cooling trend.

If your kid is sick, you use a termometer. If it reads hot; you use the thermometer 100 times more than ‘normal’. You don’t throw the termometer in the trash and tell him he is dying (and grab his piggy bank).
If the crisis was real, we would be spreading standardized, state of the art weather stations everywhere (solar powered, no less). Then we would check the chart every 20 years because that is a blip in geological time.
Another possibility is that the crisis IS real, but not what they claim.
In the 70s they were convinced an ice age was coming “soon”. Maybe they still are. The press promoted “soon” as immediate and then ridiculed the idea when it didn’t happen, but the actual predictions were more on the order of fifty years. We’re almost there. Most ice ages occur and end suddenly in geologic time.
Open world preparation for a coming ice age wasn’t conducive to an increase in their power (or increasing the percentage they siphon off of productive humans). Instead we get Club of Rome, NSSM 200, Agenda 21, and their derivative population control initiatives. Then with the next warm phase the “Globull Warming” Psyop is launched to increase their power, hoard energy resources, and distract the world from the actual purpose of wars to control energy and the tropics. Obviously surviving an ice age is easier with lots of energy and a good tropical location.
So perhaps “winter” is coming soon and they’re ramping up the culling program in various ways along with the distraction efforts.
That aligns with my thinking. Agenda 21 is to make sure the middle class does not have the resources to migrate.

The WMO has a weighting points system for temp stations. For Urban stations they give a zero and would prefer, if possible, to avoid them. About 2% of the world’s land mass is urbanized and 27% of temps stations are in theses areas. So, with Africa representing one fifth of the world’s land mass and the very few temp station’s data in Urban areas it’s not looking good for accurate data. Now add on all the other areas of the world that are estimated.
Southern Alberta where I measure for Environment Canada was .1C above average….that area should be white.

From my memory of five years ago . . . GISS uses satellite data for current ocean temperatures. However, if there is a station relatively close to the ocean, the GISS procedure gives some type of preference to the land-based reading.
My understanding is that ERSST Version 3b is all terrestrial.

Take a look at the NuSchool globe and the current Temperatures in New Zealand, it is currently showing 0 to 12 degrees C, with 0 being the end closest to the Antarctic and it is just coming out of their summer.
It is not just the NH that is feeling the cold.

The Kyoto treaty, that was signed by many countries expires and the Copenhagen Treaty bombed —- Copenhagen climate summit in disarray after ‘Danish text’ leak. Now they are ready to try and push through another binding treaty that further cripples the US economy and provides the UN with direct taxation of the world’s population.
These treaties deal with the nitty gritty details under the umbrella of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
