This is becoming quite sad, actually. This week we will see zero F nights in March! As most of February was this cold it just rolls on and on. Temperatures in NY upstate will reach 39ºF for one day this week and then plunge back towards zero again! This would be cold for January, much less, March.
And people who are total global warmists are now literally shivering in their sandals as the cold endures. All the excuses look sillier and sillier as the earth cools down.
Once again, the Toronto Star is loose with the data. (don’t get me started with their political stands) They are using airport figures which go back to 1937 and comparing them to city records which go back to 1840 (not 1842). The stations are a 30 minute drive apart and frequently differ by more than 2 degrees C. Using the city records, the breakdown is Feb. 1875 -12.6, Feb. 1934 and Jan. 1859 -12.1, Feb. 1885 -11.9, Feb, 2015 -11.1, So, 5th coldest month, 4th coldest February.
And what was the level of UHI in 1875, 1934, 1859, 1885 versus today. Everyone should realize when the building is staying at the same temperature, the amount of heat put into each building is actually put into the surrounding air.
UHI is a separate issue and very difficult to quantify precisely. No doubt it is there in a large urban area (which the airport is now also part of). The point is that they are mixing data from two different stations. Sloppy.

Now that “the cat is out of the bag,” winners of Nobel Prizes (other than Al Gore and Raj Pachauri) may be questioning the wisdom of endorsing “consensus science.”
There needs to documentation of raw vs. homogenized where homogenized shows cooling. I assume that has to happen at least once in a while.
