NSIDC Ramps Up Their BS To Spectacular New Levels

Check out this mindless propaganda which NSIDC published yesterday

Downwardly mobile | Arctic Sea Ice News and Analysis

Their own graph shows that Arctic sea ice extent is just below normal, and melting unusually slowly.

Arctic sea ice extent is third highest since 2005, not second lowest as NSIDC claims.

As Paris draws closer, look for this sort of mindless propaganda from formerly respectable agencies to ramp up.

This graph is in their news-item:

Early June seems low, but that changed rapidly. How can they not look further?

    • Robertv says:

You wonder why most people go to hot places to retire or for summer vacation. Also most animals do the same if they can.

  2. markstoval says:

“Globally, the area of sea ice on Earth is well above normal.”

The Green Blob would like you to know that the ice at the south pole does not count. Santa lives at the north pole.

And don’t you forget it again!

    • rah says:

Yes but does anyone really believe that the chief elf that has lived there as long as anyone can remember doesn’t have the system down pat? I mean after all the guy has an army of elves at his service. He has the most advanced intel network known to mankind. He has to in order to know who is being naughty or nice. He has a ultra super sonic sleigh with STOL capability surpassing that of any helicopter ever known. And he has a raindeer with FLIR to guide that sleigh through the worst visibility conditions imaginable so he can land on the tiniest roof during a full blown blizzard even in the Himalayas.

The problem is that the liberals who really don’t believe in him have no concept of how capable Santa and his tribe are!

  3. Billy Liar says:

The NSIDC article reads like 3rd rate newspaper journalism.

The title is ‘Arctic Sea News and Analysis’. Maybe next time they could include some numbers in the news and drop the speculation at the end in favor of some analysis.

  4. Sage Vals says:

They are, as ever, cherry-picking the data in the hope it will be picked up in the Grauniad – which it probably will, but I can’t be bothered to look.

  5. Gail Combs says:

    Obummer is also ramping up.

Obama Issues ‘Executive Actions’ To Put Solar Panels On Federally Subsidized Housing Supposedly to help ‘educate’ the inner city types on the glories of solar energy.

Expect to see ‘used’ solar panels for sale at your nearest pawn shop or flea market….

What a sad, sad state of affairs for all humanity, driven by a 1945 decision to “save society from annihilation” by hiding from the public the source of energy that destroyed Hiroshima – NEUTRON REPULSION in cores of
    _ 1. The universe
    _ 2. The galaxies
    _ 3. Ordinary stars
    _ 4. Some planets
_ 5. All atoms heavier than ~150 amu (atomic mass units) including atoms of Uranium & Plutonium that destroyed Hiroshima & Nagasaki on 6 & 9 AUG 1945.

An attempt to save society destroyed the integrity of national governments and government science.

When first we practice to deceive!”

Oliver as a continuation on the subject of solar revisionism, Jo Nova has a new article What’s really warming the world — NASA has no idea (Not the Sun, Never the Sun!)

She shows how the L.S. squashed flat revised solar data is used.

      http://jo.nova.s3.amazonaws.com/graph/models/natural-v-carbon/nasa-2015/bloomberg-climate-model-nasa-sun.gif

      and goes on from there.

A good article well worth the read.

      • Gail Combs says:

I really love the first three comments on Jo Nova’s article….

      • AndyG55 says:

L.S. was sure 20 years ago that it wasn’t the sun, and then did everything he could to solar data to try an prove himself correct, tio take the solar variability out of the picture.

Frankly, I trust his “re-fabrication” even less than I trust GISS and NOAA temperature data. ie its laughable !

Usoskin is the goto guy. http://cc.oulu.fi/~usoskin/personal/lrsp-2008-3Color.pdf

        • Gail Combs says:

Agreed. Dr. Ilya Usoskin is super and he blows L.S. away in his A History of Solar Activity over Millennia

It is not only very well researched it is written in a manner that allows those outside the field to understand it. His section 3.7 Verification of reconstructions is what won me over. It is an excellent example of how science should be done.

(Thanks for a pointer to his work in color.)

        • rah says:

I’ll bet he is also a more congenial guy than Leif. Leif is too argumentative to be a good teacher.

        • Gail Combs says:

L.S. has been tasked by ***Stanford Univ to ride herd on commenters at WUWT when it comes to discussion of the sun and climate. I would not be surprise if he highly resents wasting his time with the ‘Great UnWashed’ who continually challenge his ‘Pearls of Wisdom’
          …………………….

***Stanford Univ. — home of Paul R. Ehrlich co-author with Obummer’s Science Czar, John P. Holdren, of The Population Bomb and Ecoscience Population, Resources, Environment
John Holdren in his own (radical) words

1 Population control is absolutely essential if the problems now facing mankind are to be solved. It is not, however, a panacea…..

2 Political pressure must be applied immediately to induce the United States government to assume its responsibility to halt the growth of the American population. Once growth is halted, the government should undertake to influence the birth rate so that the population is reduced to an optimum size and maintained there. It is essential that a grassroots political movement be [Page 279] generated to convince our legislators and the executive branch of the government that they must act promptly. The program should be based on what politicians understand best-votes…. [This is where L.S. comes in. He is tasked with preventing an opposing REAL grassroots political movement.]

3 A massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States. De-development means bringing our economic system (especially patterns of consumption) into line with the realities of ecology and the global resource situation. Resources and energy must be diverted from frivolous and wasteful uses in overdeveloped countries to filling the genuine needs of underdeveloped countries. This effort must be largely political, especially with regard to our overexploitation of world resources, but the campaign should be strongly supplemented by legal and boycott action against polluters and others whose activities damage the environment. The need for de–development presents our economists with a major challenge. They must design a stable, low–consumption economy in which there is a much more equitable distribution of wealth than in the present one….

The quotes go on from there and as we have seen this is THE PLAN now being implemented and WUWT is infested with those charged with stomping out any real objection.

          1. L.S. has been assigned keeping the solar contribution to the climate flat as a pancake.
          2. Englebeen has been assigned defending the CO2 record.
          3. Zeke Hausfeather and the Mosh Pup are the guardians of the Temperature Record.

These are the three pillars of the CAGW con game and they are very well guarded at WUWT.

        • rah says:

Yet despite all of that Gail it seems that the vast majority of commentary at WUWT is anti-CAGW. And the tone of WUWT over time has turned that way more it seems to me.

        • Gail Combs says:

          RAH,

That is because the commenters are not dumb and there are some very good minds commenting at WUWT, such as Richard Courtney who give the Trojan Horses like Englebeen a real run for their money.

I spent YEARS at WUWT getting it through people’s heads that CAGW was about politics and Agenda 21 and not science. It was a real uphill battle and why I now use so many direct quotes.

      • Robertv says:

“NASA scientists analyzing 30 years of satellite data have found that the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation reaching Earth’s surface has increased markedly over the last three decades. Most of the increase has occurred in the mid-and-high latitudes, and there’s been little or no increase in tropical regions. ”

        But

“The primary culprit: decreasing levels of stratospheric ozone, a colorless gas that acts as Earth’s natural sunscreen by shielding the surface from damaging UV radiation.

The finding reinforces previous observations that show UV levels are stabilizing after countries began signing an international treaty that limited the emissions of ozone-depleting gases in 1987. The study also shows that increased cloudiness in the southern hemisphere over the 30-year period has impacted UV.”

Now, supposedly, Bumblebees will be extinct due to it being slightly warmer!

Bees that existed for the last 200 million years and survived mass extinctions and many Ice Ages will suddenly die off due to warm weather: this is what ‘science’ has fallen into. Utter lunacy.

    • D. Self says:

But at least 47% of the population will believe it and repeat it.

      • Gail Combs says:

Actually “47% of the population will believe it and repeat it” is not surprising.

A study published earlier this year confirmed what scientists have long believed to be the case – the human brain is shrinking. For more than 7 million years the hominid brain has grown increasingly bigger, almost tripling in size. But for the last 10,000 years, the human brain has been shrinking at an alarming rate and no one really knows why. New research has attempted to answer this question by examining size changes in specific regions of the brain.

The study published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology was carried out by a team of Chinese researchers who looked at over 500 endocasts from the past 7,000 years. Endocasts are moulds of brains created from the imprints on the inside of the skull. They are an invaluable resource when studying human evolution, allowing us to track how our brain has evolved over the past few million years. The results confirmed what has long been suspected – our brains are getting smaller…..

Tools, more efficient hunting, agriculture, technology and finally the nice climate of the Holocene has allowed the less efficient to reach reproductive age. We have accelerated the process with welfare that allows the completely non-productive to out procreate the productive.

        I LOVE this comment:

…Many scientists have argued that bigger doesn’t always mean better. Duke University anthropologist Brian Hare says “the decrease in brain size is actually an evolutionary advantage” because it could indicate we’re evolving into a less aggressive animal….

‘Less aggressive’ and ‘less intelligent’ makes better serfs/slaves, but no one is going to mention that.

That article led to this one Size Matters : Scientists Prove People With Big Heads Are Smarter

Time for a nice long nasty ice age to cleanse the gene pool and smarten humans back up.

But for the last 10,000 years, the human brain has been shrinking at an alarming rate and no one really knows why

Bigger is not always better. Brain is evolutionary very expensive to run, thus it definitely has tendency to become smaller, if the environment allows it.

However, the size does not correlate with intelligence, so don’t worry.

Specific Genes Linked to Big Brains and Intelligence

In studying a gene that drives cell growth, Project ENIGMA scientists found a variant that boosted gene expression levels (shown as colored dots), which also enlarged the brain’s memory centers (shaded in green).

Brain size and smarts are, to some extent, genetic — and now, a team of more than 200 researchers has uncovered specific genes that are linked to both brain volume and IQ.

Though scientists have suggested bigger brains are “smarter,” this study is the strongest case yet for a genetic connection to brain size and to IQ. Of course, brain size is not 100 percent correlated with a person’s intelligence, and other factors, including connections between brain cells and even a person’s experiences, play roles.

“We found fairly unequivocal proof supporting a genetic link to brain function and intelligence. For the first time, we have watertight evidence of how these genes affect the brain,” said lead researcher Paul Thompson, a neurologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine……

          Size and smarts
Another notable genetic sequence, located within the HMGA2 gene on chromosome 12, was linked with intracranial volume — in other words, the space inside your skull that marks the outer limit as to how big your brain can get. At this spot, every C-allele variant was linked to not only lower intracranial volume, but also to lower IQ scores on the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery, a measure of intelligence.

“This is a really exciting discovery: that a single letter change leads to a bigger brain,” said Thompson…..

And then there is the problem known as Progressive Brain Shrinkage

OT but a lesson to skeptics to not lose heart.

75 years ago today the Battle of Britian began. Standing alone and out numbered by over 2 to 1 in available aircraft, the British, with the help of pilots from around the Kingdom and from various occupied nations along with a few US and Canadians, held off the most powerful Air Force ever seen to that time. It was one of those defining moments in history. To this day it stands testament to the British people and nation under the leadership of Winston Churchill. And a clear demonstration of the fact that the sheer will to win is often the determining factor of the outcome of battles and wars.

Given all the outright lies told, I would not be surprised if many people are more aware than the ‘surveys’ and ‘poles’ suggest. We already know they had to use censorship to keep people from seeing skeptic articles and skeptic comments. We know they use paid trolls and bots to spam internet commentary. We know the paid Warmist Climate sites are near moribund.

Since I do children’s entertainment I meet new people every weekend. In the last five years I have had only two people actually support CAGW. All the rest think it is a pile of bovine feces. I do not know what the opinion are in the cities though, especially the NW and leftist coast.

  11. Scott says:

    Um,

Back in 2012, didn’t the the 2012 never officially top the average line? So why does the 2012 line cross the average line now? The average is listed as being up through 2010, so it’s not the inclusion of newer data (unless it wasn’t through 2010 back when they made the graph in 2012).

    -Scott

  12. Beale says:

I was especially struck by this:
The pace of sea ice loss was near average for the month of June, but persistently warm conditions and increased melting late in the month may have set the stage for rapid ice loss in the coming weeks.
They hope. Their panic is showing.
