Their own graph shows that Arctic sea ice extent is just below normal, and melting unusually slowly.
Globally, the area of sea ice on Earth is well above normal.
Arctic sea ice extent is third highest since 2005, not second lowest as NSIDC claims.
As Paris draws closer, look for this sort of mindless propaganda from formerly respectable agencies to ramp up.

The Ice is within one sigma of the mean. To those who understand statistics that means the current ice is no different than the average.
(I sure wish I had production processes we could make that tight around the mean.)

The NSIDC article reads like 3rd rate newspaper journalism.
The title is ‘Arctic Sea News and Analysis’. Maybe next time they could include some numbers in the news and drop the speculation at the end in favor of some analysis.

They are, as ever, cherry-picking the data in the hope it will be picked up in the Grauniad – which it probably will, but I can’t be bothered to look.

It is not only very well researched it is written in a manner that allows those outside the field to understand it. His section 3.7 Verification of reconstructions is what won me over. It is an excellent example of how science should be done.

75 years ago today the Battle of Britian began. Standing alone and out numbered by over 2 to 1 in available aircraft, the British, with the help of pilots from around the Kingdom and from various occupied nations along with a few US and Canadians, held off the most powerful Air Force ever seen to that time. Given all the outright lies told, I would not be surprised if many people are more aware than the ‘surveys’ and ‘poles’ suggest. We already know they had to use censorship to keep people from seeing skeptic articles and skeptic comments. We know they use paid trolls and bots to spam internet commentary. We know the paid Warmist Climate sites are near moribund.
Since I do children’s entertainment I meet new people every weekend. In the last five years I have had only two people actually support CAGW. All the rest think it is a pile of bovine feces. I do not know what the opinion are in the cities though, especially the NW and leftist coast.

Back in 2012, didn’t the the 2012 never officially top the average line? So why does the 2012 line cross the average line now? The average is listed as being up through 2010, so it’s not the inclusion of newer data (unless it wasn’t through 2010 back when they made the graph in 2012).

Ha! It seems our best bet to see Jim show up here again in the near future is if there is a big storm that breaks down the extent somewhere. Because it sure isn’t looking good for the warmists right now. And down south it’s looking even worse! Antarctic set an all time sea ice extent record today and just looking at the chart makes me kinda think there may be a lot more coming.
