And why would anyone live there? -40 C ???? Geez!

According to Environment Canada, at extreme wind chill values of -40, frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes. At values below -50 frostbite may occur in less than 5 minutes.”

Careful Andy both my parents are from Saskatchewan and indeed they have great summers.
I just got in from walking the dog … -25 this AM in Calgary and it isn’t bad when you dress for it but there is very little wind and that would be a killer at these temperatures.
In the ’50s, I walked to school one day (Central Ontario, midway between Ottawa and North Bay) at -65°F, no wind. The next day was -38°F, about 10mph East wind, much worse. One of the few times I wrapped a scarf around my face (it iced up quickly).
It is interesting that the temps are the same from the Dakotas to the arctic archipelago.

Just wait until Teh Team gets finished “adjusting” the temps— The entire state of North Dakota will go down as being warmer than Honolulu.
