Poor soil indeed. Very tasty sweet corn is grown in the desert soils of southwestern Arizona thanks to a combination of organic and petroleum-based inorganic fertilizers and soil amendments. Same thing with wheat, although most of it winds up as cattle feed which in turn produces that which is put back in the soil as organic fertilizer. The same efficiency happens with chickens. Most inorganic fertilizers and pesticides are produced by small businesses locally. More efficient watering methods have reduced the amount of water required to produce the record crops. All of these things are done because they increase profits, a bigger force for conserving resources through efficiencies than government regulations will ever be.
The combination of these things and the machinery talked about by Gail Combs above produce efficiencies that are always left out of progressive propaganda about population explosions and doomed mankind. Also, they are the reason that food prices remain low in the United States as crop production levels climb to new highs while using less land. In fact, technology and more heat tolerant hybrids allow fields to be used year round to alternate crops here, Texas, and in southern California.
This helps explain why alarmists cannot accept data and fact and only believe climate preachers.

I offer to debate anytime and anywhere, but they just don’t want to talk about the actual data. Or the science. If it doesn’t fit their narrative it doesn’t exist. Reality doesn’t exist.

They can make all sorts of horrendous claims about ‘climate change’™ (assuming their definition above) and get their tame scientists to agree, when people like us assume they mean, not ‘Climate Change’™, but to a change in climate (meaning any change, whatever the cause or mechanism). So if they say, ‘climate change’™ is 1000 times more than it was 100 years ago, that may be true, but it might still be that the change in the actual climate is negligible.
Do you see how the hoax is perpetrated? Do you see why just focusing on the science doesn’t work?

Since Clinton ratified the World Trade Organization and shipped US technology to China, all a minimum wage hike does is increase the number of jobs that are exported to China. Between December 2007 and October 2011 The US lost 6.5 million jobs. Most were in Manufacturing Construction and Tecnology. the low pay jobs like sales clerk and temp office, (Kelley is the biggest employer next to Walmart). Almost all of the top ten employers are ‘Services’ Like fast food and wally mart.

But the climate religion is the first religion to ignore satellite data.

My husband and I are not Christians but we highly resent the Christian bashing that has cropped up in the USA and we hate the Communist/Fascists/Third Way Fabians who are behind it.

I find all the arguments stated here are the same ones used by the believers against folks who don’t believe in CAGW. “The deniers are anti science.” “Deniers would not understand the facts if they hit them in the face.” “Deniers are knuckle dragging Neanderthals.”
CAGW is a bunch of hogwash but to the believer, I’m anti science.
Years ago a relative working for the NSF said the Bush Admin(and everyone who voted for him) was anti-science. I have posted endless links to actual research at a local paper, but the true believers just dismiss it all, not willing to disturb or nudge their predetermined opinions one bit. For the most part they are all ‘tolerant and open-minded progressives’.

It never rained in California and there was never any drought, before.
If you read a recent book entitled “The West Without Water” by Lynn Ingram and Frances Malamud-Roam the hair may rise on the back of your neck if you live in the Southwest. As recent as 1861-62 California has experienced floods that covered a third of the state. Picture an inland sea stretching from El Centro to north of Sacramento existing for many months and half of San Francisco bay consisting of fresh water. That has happened numerous times in the last 10,000 years. Then there was the 1,000 year drought during the Holocene Warming Period. It seems that those of us who have been living in the Southwest for the last 125 years have been living in a reaaaalllllly mild period. During the MWP (they now want to call it the Medieval Climate Anomaly) it was on average 5 to 6 degrees warmer than now here according to proxy data. Whew!
I had one peer review worshipping Warmist crackpot assert on a blog that the old Royal Navy captains’ logs concerning Arctic ice extent were unreliable due to the navigational capabilities of the old sea captains couldn’t be relied upon because they weren’t trained scientists like Mann and Hansen.
Don’t say that to my husband’s family. The Captain trained on a square rigger and was a merchant captain hauling war supplies and troops during WWII.
Those old captains had a lot more knowledge in their pinkies than Mann and Hansen have intheir wooden heads.

I would laugh, but this is so very sad, troubling and downright scary if people are to be jailed because of their opinions. If Science is already “settled” then there is no reason to go on researching anything? As an engineer, teacher, I find his opinion, “Stupid” but he has the “right” in this Country to write it. Following his logic, he should be jailed or not allowed the right to speak.
