January-March temperatures in Philadelphia were colder this year (red bar in the chart below) than any year during the Dalton minimum.

And yet ‘experts’ say world CO2 levels in 2013 were at a level unseen in two million or more years as AP’s Seth Borenstein dutifully reports. Thankfully (for the alarmists), correlation has been replaced in climate science by consensus.

But Philadelphia is only 0.00001% of the globe…
Interesting that the “year without summer” (1816) was not so cold in Philadelphia and if the spikes indicate increased solar radiations, they would be there even in the SC5 (1798-1810).
Interesting also to compare the aa-index of SC24 with previous cycles,

It’s lower than any of the previous cycles, including SC14.
Too bad we don’t have the aa-index-data for SC5, but I believe it’d would similar to the present cycle.
After all the warming of the late XX century, and still half way through the present solar grand minimum, we’re already having low temperatures comparable to the lowest of the previous 200 years. This seems a powerful argument to show the importance of solar radiations for Earth’s climate.
