July 11 (Bloomberg) — Recent global warming isn’t a result of solar radiation, scientists said, disputing a theory advanced by some researchers as an alternative to the United Nations’ view that temperatures are rising as a result of human activities.
The scientists examined historical records of solar activity over the past century, studying measures such as the number of sunspots and the amount of light emitted. They found that the total radiation from the sun peaked in 1985, according to Mike Lockwood, co-author of the paper published today in the U.K. journal Proceedings of the Royal Society A.

A new study into climate change has revealed that Brits may soon be forced to contend with much harsher winters, with as many as one in seven casting the country into sub-zero temperatures for pro-longed periods.
The findings were printed in the Institute of Physics’ journal Environmental Research Letters and are based on research exploring how low solar activity may affect winter weather patterns.
“We could get to the point where one-in-seven winters are very cold, such as we had at the start of last winter and all through the winter before,” commented co-author Mike Lockwood, professor of space environment physics at the University of Reading.
“Weird how we all missed that an ultra-narrow range of CO2 concentrations has virtually no influence on climate.”
“Yeah, weird.”
“The scientists went on to clarify that their research didn’t have any overarching significance into the debate surrounding global warming and climate change. The letters finding instead refer to a naturally occurring weather pattern.”
That is hilarious. Even while presenting evidence for something other than CO2 influencing the climate, they have to cover their bases and claim that this doesn’t matter even if its going to cause really cold winters. Make sure to tout the party line under all circumstances!
Hold it….. if the western world is cleaning up sulfur emissions while china is increasing sulfur emissions … shouldn’t that more or less cancel out? So we should still be frying from all that Co2….. na…. spin, spin, spin……
Looks like the sun has singled out Britain for special treatment. Aren’t we lucky (or not)!
