In 1988, NASA’s James Hansen predicted that Omaha, Nebraska would have five day stretches over 95 degrees, during more than half of their years after 1990.

The closest USHCN station to Omaha is at Ashland, NE – about 15 miles away. Streaks of 95 degree days have declined there since the 1930’s. During the 1930’s almost every year had five day stretches. The longest stretch was in 1901, when they had 20 consecutive days. The mean has remained consistently below five days per year, with a slight downwards trend.

Same story at Auburn, southeast of Omaha.

What this tells us is that both Hansen and climate models are incapable of predicting anything about the climate. The reason being that they assume CO2 drives the climate. But it doesn’t. It is superstition, not science.

In 1988, climate experts from around the world made a very official sounding prediction that summers would get drier in the US.

The exact opposite happened – summers got wetter after 1990.

Climate experts and climate models have nothing to do with reality. They live in a superstition based world which assumes that CO2 drives the climate.

In the 16th century, European progressives blamed bad weather on witches, and burned 15,000 innocent people at the stake for “cooking the weather.” Nothing has changed. Now the witches are “fossil fuel corporations.”

Canada has had many bad fires, like this one 100 years ago which killed hundreds of people and “wiped out a dozen towns.”  It burned half a million acres.

After the Colorado fires in 2012, Obama blamed global warming. Since then we have had three of the quietest fire seasons on record. These people have no evidence or reason – they are just mindless fanatics full of rage and hatred and looking for an excuse to blame others for their own misery.

Climate Central published this map showing how Midwest winters are burning up since the 1970’s.

As the world continues to warm from the increase of greenhouse gases, the amount of extreme cold during winter will start to decrease. According to a 2013 report by Climate Central, nationwide nighttime winter temperatures since 1970 have risen about 30 percent faster than nighttime temperatures over the entire year. Every NOAA climate division has shown warming, with the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and New England warming the most over the past 45 years.

This is the standard climate fraud from people who are paid to lie about climate. They started their trend in the coldest decade of the temperature record. Had they started in any other decade and used the actual measured thermometer data, there would have been no warming or cooling. The warmest decade was during the 1930’s, and recent years are about 2C cooler.

Alarmists have already begun their “Arctic headed for a record low” fear mongering.

A large area of open water has opened up in the Beaufort Sea, north of the Yukon.

This was due to a high pressure system which produced strong winds for a couple of weeks and pushed the ice offshore.

 Those winds have since reversed, and the ice is starting to move back towards the shore. And of course alarmists won’t mention that Greenland ice gains have been well above normal since November.

If you plot full year temperatures, 2016 looks cold – because there are no temperatures for summer averaged in. Summer 2016 hasn’t happened yet.

There are two solutions to this.

1. Don’t plot the current year.

2. You can use anomalies instead of absolute temperatures. This is deceptive though because it isn’t representative of the full year either.

In 1999, NASA published this global temperature graph, showing 0.4C global warming from 1880 to 1997. They also showed that there was very little difference between rural and urban stations, indicating a high degree of confidence in their data.

NASA’s current version of the same graph looks very different, showing about 1.0C global warming from 1880 to 1997. By altering the data they have more than doubled the amount of warming during the same time period.

I overlaid the two graphs at the same scale, and normalized to the earliest years. This shows how NASA has massively altered their graphs since 1999 to create a completely fake hockey stick of warming – which does not exist.

An alternative view of this normalizes to the most recent common years, the 1990’s. This view shows how they made the 1940’s spike disappear since 1990.

The fraud doesn’t end in 1997 though. NASA continues to show rapid warming after 1997, which is not present in the satellite temperature record.

The next graph from the 1999 paper shows what is going on. The number of stations NASA is using has plummeted since the 1970’s. They are losing rural stations, causing the temperature record to be driven by urban stations – which are much warmer.

NASA is engaged in transparently political junk science, which motivated  the astronauts, engineers and scientists  who made NASA great in past decades to send the NASA administrator this angry letter in 2012. Signatories included the only scientist to have walked on the moon, Harrison Schmitt.

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.

As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.
