Republicans have hired consultants to help them come up with unified talking points on global warming,according to a report by the Washington Examiner. But could this be the GOP giving up the climate debate?

“They’re going to try to drag their feet as long as possible, but there are certain things out there that could bring the predominant GOP position to light,” GOP strategist Ford O’Connell told the Examiner. “They want to at least have a unified position and they want to be able to have their ducks in a row. And if they have a solution, they want to have one that has the least impact on the economy.”

For months, The Daily Caller News Foundation has heard murmurs from sources of a potential GOP response to President Obama’s global warming agenda to help protect vulnerable moderate Republicans in future elections. There is no clear GOP climate plan yet, reports the Examiner, but a rough outline of what Republicans want is under the mantra that “tactics to reduce emissions should not harm the economy.”

So after all but one of Tom Steyer’s candidates got crushed in November, Republicans are convinced that Steyer has a winning issue. They also believe that the 2013 shutdown hurt them.

You really can’t make up stupid like this. Voters sent Washington a very clear message, and everyone in Washington on both sides of the aisle is ignoring it.

Colorado successfully purged their Udall carpetbagger in November, but New Mexico is still plagued by one. Last week Tom Udall announced that global warming had destroyed the state – as they prepare for more heavy snow.

Arctic sea ice extent was at or near a decadal high for most of the last two months of 2014, and after a brief hiatus (and sensor error yesterday) is back near that position again.

Satellites show that last year wasn’t anywhere near a record year globally, but one country which did record its warmest average temperature was France.

However, it wasn’t hot in France last year. Summer maximum temperatures were just about average. The “heat” was actually mild temperatures in other seasons.

France had very few hot days last year.

Record daily temperatures in France peaked in the 1950’s, and there have been very few since the 2003 heatwave.

During the heatwave of 1947, Paris set its all-time record of 104.7 degrees. (Wikipedia incorrectly lists this as being 1948)

And Paris also reached 104 degrees in  1765.

The weather in France is getting milder, not hotter. If global warming is affecting them, it is making their climate better.
