Arctic Sea Ice Extent Continues Near A Decadal High

Arctic sea ice extent was at or near a decadal high for most of the last two months of 2014, and after a brief hiatus (and sensor error yesterday) is back near that position again.

More On The 2014 Big Lie To Be Presented By Obama Tonight

The official Obama propaganda outlets use imagery like this to describe the “record heat” of 2014

2014-Hottest-Year-Ever-537x405

Satellites show that last year wasn’t anywhere near a record year globally, but one country which did record its warmest average temperature was France.

ScreenHunter_6249 Jan. 20 07.47

However, it wasn’t hot in France last year. Summer maximum temperatures were just about average. The “heat” was actually mild temperatures in other seasons.

ScreenHunter_6251 Jan. 20 08.06

France had very few hot days last year.

ScreenHunter_6252 Jan. 20 08.28

Record daily temperatures in France peaked in the 1950’s, and there have been very few since the 2003 heatwave.

ScreenHunter_6248 Jan. 20 07.43

During the heatwave of 1947, Paris set its all-time record of 104.7 degrees. (Wikipedia incorrectly lists this as being 1948)

ScreenHunter_6250 Jan. 20 08.03

And Paris also reached 104 degrees in  1765.

The weather in France is getting milder, not hotter. If global warming is affecting them, it is making their climate better.

My Climate Forecast

I forecast that Barack Obama will use Gavin’s fake “hottest year ever” in his SOTU address tomorrow evening, as part of the President’s ongoing efforts to seize control of the US energy sector.

NASA/NOAA UHI Adjustments Are A Farce

Hansen says UHI is 0.1 degrees.

Hansen and Lebedeff (1987) estimate that urban effects cause a warming of about 0.1°C/century on global average

Surface Air Temperature Analyses

Every night the weather forecaster says “and a few degrees cooler in outlying areas”  – typically 20 to 40 times larger than Hansen claims.

So what does UHI look like at an actual station? Midsummer temperatures in Sydney show a very strong UHI signature. Maximum temperatures have declined over the past 150 years, while minimum temperatures have risen sharply.

ScreenHunter_6231 Jan. 19 17.01 This probably has something to do with being located adjacent to 20 lanes of asphalt.

The experts adjust for other factors very aggressively, but the one thing they should be adjusting for – UHI – they simply write off.

Our Resident Saudi

In Saudi Arabia, you get 1,000 lashes and jail time for blogging against the official line of propaganda. Jim Hunt has proposed that skeptics be jailed in the United States.

Jim says my forecast of 2014 Arctic ice extent close to 2006 was incorrect.

Congressional Republicans Want To Curl Up On The Love Seat With Nancy

Republicans are trying to find solutions of their own to climate change instead of just attacking President Obama’s environmental policies, but the party hasn’t been able to agree on specific plans or policies.

Now in control of Congress, some Republicans are beginning to think that simply throwing bombs at the Environmental Protection Agency and Obama’s regulations won’t work any longer, staffers on Capitol Hill say. Instead, they believe they must develop their own ideas on how to combat climate change, especially to help moderate GOP senators up for re-election in 2016. Nine Senate Republicans are on the ballot in states Obama carried at least once, and House districts that were safe in midterm races likely will be tighter in the general election.

GOP looks to take a position on climate change, but how? | WashingtonExaminer.com

That strategy worked really well for Newt.
