Ten years ago today, there was unanimous consensus that Australia didn’t used to have fires, floods and cyclones, and that they were now caused by the local mining industry.

Twenty one years ago, the New York Times announced that the North Pole was ice-free for the first time in fifty million years.

“The North Pole is melting.

The thick ice that has for ages covered the Arctic Ocean at the pole has turned to water, recent visitors there reported yesterday. At least for the time being, an ice-free patch of ocean about a mile wide has opened at the very top of the world, something that has presumably never before been seen by humans and is more evidence that global warming may be real and already affecting climate.

The last time scientists can be certain the pole was awash in water was more than 50 million years ago.”

The North Pole was ice-free in 1958.

Also in 1958, the New York Times reported that Arctic sea ice was two meters thick.

And now in 2021 Arctic sea ice is two meters thick.

Fifteen years ago, Barack Obama said :

The Arctic saw a large amount of warming in the first half of the 20th century, and Greenland used to be much warmer.

She was correct, as people in Texas found out last month. Many froze to death because Texas invested in unreliable windmills instead of reliable fossil fuels.

Five years ago, USA Today and the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado said that Arctic sea ice was at a record winter low and temperatures in the Arctic were 15F (9C) above normal. And they announced that it was due to global warming.

Five years later, Arctic sea ice is normal, and Antarctic sea ice is near a record high for the date.

One hundred years ago, Arctic ocean temperatures were 23 degrees above normal, and the ocean around Svalbard never froze over.

I’ve spent thirteen years documenting how NASA’s James Hansen got everything wrong – and how he corrupted temperature data to cover it up. But he says he was correct about everything.

I’m not going to detail his impressive list of failures here, but I am going to discuss the key failure which doomed all of his other predictions to failure as well. Central to his global warming theory is that a hot spot would appear in the lower troposphere near the equator. In 1985, he predicted 7C warming in the tropical troposphere hot spot.

It didn’t happen, and tropical troposphere temperatures measured by satellites are not much different than they were 40 years ago.

What actually controls variation in tropical troposphere temperatures are El Nino (warm) and La Nina (cold) events in the Pacific Ocean.

This graph overlays the ENSO graph above in pink, on top of the satellite temperatures.  The correlation with ENSO is quite good, and it shows little or no correlation with CO2.

Hansen has no clue what he is talking about, but he also controlled the temperature data – so he was able to tamper with it to make it appear like he was correct.
